I have another account that is a master Bio Engineer/Ranger and have been wondering for some time now why a bio engineer is not allowed to harvest the creature after sampling it to death. technically we should still be able to skin and bone it after right?

This would really help being as a character setup like that has no offensive capabilities at all (Master BE/Master Ranger)

Could this be changed?

"why a bio engineer is not allowed to harvest the creature after sampling it to death."

I believe that was actually changed on purpose, to be that way, some time ago.

Don't ask me why it was done though, I don't recall the specifics.

Does that sound a bit sick to anyone? "Sampling to Death?" .. it's like your carving things out of this LIVE creature untill you just carved away a little too much... ahhh.. nasty.. kill it first!!

I think it may have been change because you you sample it to death well from what I say a BE killed a piket faster than me(rifle 2/1/2/2) could. Me and my friend were hunting pikets and a tracked some to an isle and when we got there some BE just got to the a second before us and we saw one pikte drop, then another.

Maybe to prevent easy harvests?

sampling to death sick or easy? i dont think so. as a master BE/Ranger, i have to mask/conceal and crawl up to a pack of mutant rancors (or any high level creature)very very carefully from 60m. when i get to one, i stand up and then sample. IF i am successful, i getone sample and it will die.It iscommon to fail 8-10 times in a row and it is best to sample another Mutant when the one you were sampling failed otherwise risk pissing the beast off.Even after being so careful, they can just randomly turn on you with your mask scent still enabled, otherwise, they are checking your mask scent every few moments.

The samplesi getare mostly not very high quality sample so i have to start over.Out of 5 successful samplesor more i get one Very High Quality sample.if it aggros me, the whole nest goes mad resulting in me capping or dying and all the rancors going off on each other. It takes HOURS/DAYS to get enough to make 2-3 creatures as each DNA template uses 5 samples. While i enjoy all of this because it is a thrilling experience having no real combat capabilities to speak of, i do feel that when they do die after i sample them, it is such an incredible waste of resources.

Its something i can live with but just wanted to reflect my thoughts and questions

ok, The bio-engy that dropped the pikets made it looked kinda powerful lol(though he may have been lucky not to aggro them). I have no experiece with Bio-engy so all I get from it is whatI see and I just saw pikets drop. However they are pikets so they are nothing like a bull rancor. Wow a Bioengy/Ranger you have guts for going up to a Rancor and giving him a needle lol

brother, its alot of fun hehhee. a whole different way of playing the game and possibly the most fun crafting class in terms of rewards and what you can create. Hard work but alot of satisfaction when you get things right.

Paired up with ranger, and i intend to go master ranger with this one as well, it almost feels like you're playing a ninja in Tenchu. ok, maybe ive been spening too much time sampling...
but its good fun, hairy and you've always got to be ready to run. everytime mask scent breaks, you freeze up and observe. surrounded by 4-5 mutants, you start to count down mentally as the tension builds so you can hit that mask scent again. sometimes it can all go to crap of course. Pays to obser your surroundings as wel, some creatures are naturallly agressive to other types so i have to lure my aggros into them to get away and save my skin.

I was a BE for a day, couldn't stand it . Way too much sneaking and failing and so forth, and then to see the schematics..... Well, I quickly dropped it and kept on going on my way towards other things.

Yeah it can be tough and frustrating which still brings me to my question on why when a bio engineer has scout/ranger skills that he/she cant harvest off a creature that died after sticking a needle into it when a commando can still harvest after he's toasted it with his flamethrower
