Hello-I am a player on the Flurry server. I have enough overflow scout exp to be a novice ranger and also a few skill levels even above that. I also qualify for novice Bounty Hunter, Novice Creature Handler, novice Pistoleer, and Novice Carbineer. Which one of these professions would go best with ranger? Also do ranger make alort of money harvesting hides/bones/meat. is there a demand on the markets to buy these? If your a master ranger per say approx how many hides do you get off a humbaba, right now i get about 25. As of now I am a Master Scout/Master Artisan/Master Marksman/Novice Pistoleer/novice armorsmith -yeah I know got to drop some stuff. Thanks for feedback.

Im a master ranger and ive just finished a 20k of meat contract for 1 million credits, so there is money to be made.

Ive got the BH 0003 LLC route with novis medic, it helps me solo fairly big animals and also useful in groups but just choose which every weapon u like to be honest as they all have there advantages.

Good luck and oh I think u harvest about 30% more than scouts on harvest.

I am a Master Ranger with Master Pistoleer.

Over 2 million creds in the bank, and I don't sell much, fact is, I give it away. Get decent destroy missions, you harvest and get paid, then if so inclined you can sell the harvest. Think of it as getting paid twice. Also, if you get two missions that are fairly close, ride out, walk back, harvesting on the way back all the stuff you spawned riding by.

I will and have solo'd most things, and do not hesitate to group to get missions above the 50 level to solo. Traps work, and if you have decent weapons and know when to move your feet and in what direction, nothing is impossible.

Oh yeah, no armor, no buffs. Me, my shirt and pants, a blaster, some traps, and my uncanny ability to smell like a rose, even when I fall in a dung pile.

good luck, kick major butt and don't bother taking names, the astromech is doing that for us...lol

Get rifleman.. works great for killing things.

Go to the Trade Boards for your server, and see what the Docs are buying.

Meat will be your # 1 source of income..after that, probably hides.

It all depends on what's the "HOT" resource.. depndso n the resource shifts... But it all starts with the trade forums... usually 20 cpu or more is what you want to go for.

A while back I sold 20k wooly for 50 cpu.. . so that was a nice chunk of change

Also blaze throught get alot of something then demand a cetain prize for it, I recommend using the fine pricing guide on these forums(its somewhere here). If they don't like that then move on, but usually having alot of it will help them decide.

I am not a rich ranger by any means, but I know that there are ways to make money out there on pure skills. Also if you are not sure whats hot, just go for things people always need, avian meats, leathery or wooly hides, things like that. Another tip is learn who uses what and for what, and how much they need. KNOW the crafters, they are your buyers.

Make sure you get good stuff though... high OQ, high PE is what the meat is good for. check around... and try to stay focused on one thing. If you say I want to get this Avian meat, then just do that.. don't get distracted, or you''ll end up with not much of a lot of resources.. which is only good for making camps.

Ranger and heavy swordsman here. My best tip for making money is:
- 1. Keep and eye on the tradeforums, for what people are buying.
- 2. Keep an eye on www.swgcraft.com for what people will want to buy soon (if a new type of meat or hide shifts in, and it looks like something people will want to buy, start collecting).
- 3. Get to know armorsmiths and docs/CM. That way they will come to you if they need anything.
- 4. Sell odds and ends of meat and hide on the bazaar. Especially avian and herb meat. Often a good way to make some money of stacks to small to sell through normal channels.

Good luck.

Near Master Ranger here (plus Novice BH, plus novice CH... undecided ). I actually made most of my money in my former energy business. Did that for about five months, and while it was extremely lucrative, it is totally time-consuming. It was time to get back into playing the game. But since I got used to a certain weekly income, I've wanted to continue at least ending the week in a profit to not dip into the cushion (until the big multi-mil purchases come along).

In my opinion, there are two very important considerations to make:
  • Do you just want lots of money? That's easy. Farm mission terminals, sell energy or resources, buy low and sell high on the market, find a consumable everyone wants and just craft it to death. It's very easy to make money in this game because there are so many options and customers.
  • Do you want an income? That's trickier. Anyone can make money, but will you enjoy it? If you can align your Ranger proclivities with a lucrative income, as folks here have mentioned, that's ideal. You're doing what you enjoy anyway and making money. Best combo.

Even at Novice Ranger (heck, even at low Scout), you can find the resources, harvest them and sell them.

I'd recommend hooking up with the Antarian Rangers if they have a presence on your server. On Eclipse, it's Frederick Skinner, Caiden, Bochuu and a few others. They're great. They always find the best resource and then farm the heck out of it until it shifts. They'll buy it from whomever joins their hunts. I generally have a customer or two already, from our city, but they join the Antarians occasionally too. They use their own formula to buy, which is a variant on the one here, but I don't know what they use for their customers. I like hunting with them though. As a group we can tackle things I'd never be able to solo right now.

I'm a master ranger on Bloodfin, known far and wide for its inflated economy, and I do very, very well. In fact, I hate to say this, but I'm a little overworked -- given the constraints of RL, etc... I can only harvest so much a night, and when I'm out doing that I frequently get tells from new customers asking me if I can harvest for them as well. I've been sending a lot fo people to AR because I simply don't have the time to harvest to meet demand (sorry AR peeps - hope you don't mind the referrals).

I have over 5 million credits so far (ok, two million did come from selling weaponsmith skill tapes, but the rest came from selling hides and meat to armorsmiths and doctors), and on a good night I usually pull in around 250,000 credits. I generally don't hunt for grinding stuff anymore (though there is good money to be made from holo grinders), and I hunt a lot of stuff for guildies for free, and still I can make around 250,000 for one night's worth of hunting.

As Morten suggests browse the trade forums and your galaxy forum at least once a day (if not more). I know that reading the galaxy forums can be like reading a bathroom stall in some public park somewhere, but people will post what they want and how much they are willing to pay.

If you really, really want to be overworked, post on your galaxy's trade forum that you are willing to harvest stuff. I warn you, though, that you will get more business than you know what to do with -- I have never done this, but I had a friend who was foolish enough to do this, and the poor guy played 24/7 I think for a few weeks straight before he decided he didn't need the work that bad - haha.

Also, learn where things spawn - my experience is that there are regions of each planet where certain types of creatures can be counted upon to spawn on a regular basis. This is especially important for avian meat, which seems to be constantly in demand, as there are few planets that have creatures that abound in avian meat -- and it is often difficult to get missions for these creatures.

For example, on cor. carrion spats, gulginaws, and rasps have avian meat, but I am too powerful to pull missions for normal spats, rasps, and gulginaws, but not powerful enough (level 25 max) to pull missions for their larger counterparts. I do know, however, a few areas where greater gulginaws spawn in conjunction with carrion spats, and that experience made me a small fortune when cor. avian meat was at its peak.

Also, non-mission lairs have two-to-three times more creatures than do mission lairs. On cor. again, I can pull missions for savage humbabas, but each mission-savage-humbaba lair only has six humbabes in it - this and the lag associated with most cities can make for a long and tedious night of hunting. Non-mission-savage-humbaba lairs, however, have between 12 and 20 humbabas in them, so hunting goes a lot faster. And driving from city to mission and back again really isn't that much fun.

One more thing to do is learn what types of non-mission lairs creatures inhabit. On cor. again, savage humbabas live in dead logs, so as you're wandering around the country-side and lairs are spawning in front of you (and hence not appearing on area-track, uggh), you can tab-target the lairsand tell just from the type of lair what sort of creature it holds...

To answer your other questions, I get around 70-80 hides from a savage humbaba, 50 to 60 from a swamp humbaba, and about 40-50 from a normal humbaba.

I'm not sure how well bounty hunter works with ranger, unless you want to hunt jedis, and it seems to me that a lot of rangers are turning away from ch now that ch requires a substantial investment of skill points to be worth anything. I myself am a master pistoleer, but I do know some carbiners that are rangers as well - I've heard that the ranged-carbiner knockdown is particularly useful with some of our dizzy traps.

Hope all this helps-

If you don't mind not hitting a Master box, picking up some parts of other professions can be a great way to diversify. For example, I just started using the BH Scatter Pistol and Lightning Cannon (LLC).

Take a look at the different skills paths.

The LLC line in BH boosts Accuracy and Speed. The former I'm already seeing as a problem. At Novice BH I miss quite a bit. But if hunting mobs and have Mask Scent/Camo up, you have a great chance of not drawing aggro, so missing opening shots doesn't matter. Particularly if the second shot one-shot-kills it anyway

The Creature Management line for CH increases the max level of a usable pet and at one point adds the ability to have two pets out instead of just one. If you're walking around with advanced combat skills anyway, you may not need the other three skill lines combined to get that level 60+ pet, or two of them.

I prefer a bit of diversity. With Master Ranger, one or two advanced combat skills, a CL20 or so pet and my Probot, I'd feel comfortable taking on most middle-advanced worlds. The really advanced ones may be out of my reach alone, but for the most part, I very much prefer hunting in groups of friends than soloing anyway. But for those times when I have only an hour to play, the skills above should let me.

Money is easy. Enjoying its acquisition gets personal though

Master Ranger & soon to be Master Pistoleer here.

I made most of my money through selling force crystals, my two holocrons and few giant stacks of amazing meat.

Suppose even as a Ranger you've got to realize the money isn't always in what you harvest, but what you loot.
