Thread: Annoying Harvet bug

Admittedly this may not come up for most of you, but I have run across a really annoying harvesting bug.

Many of us, I would guess, use a macro of some sort for harvesting, so that we do not have to use the radial menu.

In fact I have three macros, one for each resource type...it is much easier to just click, bam. and be done.

Recently in several hunts we have had in our group a player whose name starts with Meat... even though there are more characters beyond the first four, it prevents the /harvest meat; macro from working.. it attempts to harvest this poor soul..

Now, if he gave a good number of units of meat, there wouldn't be a problem but it is rather annoying and slows you down considerably.

You do not have to be grouped to be hit by this bug, just being in the same area with him does it.

This is a (to me as a programmer) severe bug in how command completion is handled, and it would be nice if this was addressed.

I have submitted bug reports about it (including before the last publish), but apparantly it isn't important.. but I want my macros back..

It isn't this guys fault that there is buggy code, so there is no justification for excluding him, especially since he is friendly and helpful...

* stiffles laughter *

I'm sorry... But that's just funny. /harvest meat attempts to harvest a player named Meat(something).

That has got to be the most bizarre error I've ever seen. I didn't even know that /harvest checked nearby player names.

Make sure to /bug that baby.

We give the poor guy no end of trouble about it whenever he joins us..

I think it is funny too, as long as I am not trying to harvest something ..

I have submitted bug reports, and plan to do so each and every hunt.. sigh..

with my luck some guy named Bonecrusher and someone named HideQuietly will show up and want to hunt..

I am confused. Thought you had to have the critter targeted to use the macro. Least that's how I use mine.

Trying to harvest a friend tho, that is funny.

he keeps pointing out that he doesn't have a high CPU...

Uh, thats what we are doing..

Just because there is a (longer, slower, error prone) work around to a legitimate BUG, doesn't mean that the BUG should go unaddressed.

This is clearly a bug, it is clearly affecting game play, adn without access to the source code we do not know what other systems that this bug has the potential of messing up.

Bugs should be removed.
