Thread: Question on system message feedback of traps.

Ok, one of four things happens when I throw a trap.

  1. Get the successful message and the trap does what it is supposed to.

  2. Get the "target is already too whatever to be affected by the whatever trap" message

  3. Get the trap failed to affect the target message

  4. Nothing at all. No system message of any kind

So, my question is what does #4 mean? Is it a failure that doesn't throw a system message, or is it a "dud" of a trap and it's just completely wasted? I don't mind failing on a trap, but getting no message at all irritates me because it looks like a buggy trap (waste of a few seconds of combat time and resources!)

"So, my question is what does #4 mean?"

We presume it means one of the other three options occurred, and we didn't get the message.

It is onthe bug list.

Sometimes I get two identical success messages for one trap throw. I don't know if I've gotten double exp for these, or if it's just a display error.

I also have noticed that I get a "trap failed to affect target" message when throwing a sonic pulse trap but the creature was stunned and dizzied. I've been meaning to check my trapping XP before and after each trap thrown but I've also noticed that my XP in the skills tree sometimes stop updating until I log out and back on so there's one bug keeping me from checking on another. /sigh
