Thread: Sorry if this is a stupid question, but...

I am thinking of dropping Master Smuggler and hoping over to this revered profession. I prefer to do research on professions before making the painful decision to drop hard earned skills for the hopes that the new ones will be well worth the effort. So far, Ranger looks to be the profession that I am leaning towards as I am normaly hunting all by my lonesome and could probably put all my scouting skills to good use.

My stupid question is, with the new patch lifting the restrictions on camps, what is the point of the camps now? Or should I be asking "was there ever a point to the camps?"

It seems to me that the only thing that one may use them for would be for healing. However, with the vehicles and rapid transit, that is not really necessary is it? Not to mention that BF can't be healed in camps. Which is dumb. Or did they fix that yet?

What am I missing here?

Well... Hmmm...

You can't heal your BF in the Ranger Camps, but you can heal all your other wounds in the wild, and that's pretty cool. The thing I like the most about the camps is the "wow factor". Everyone's so used to see the small tent... All your buddies will go "WOW!" when you deploy your first advanced camps, hehe.

All our other skills aren't as great or useful, either. Some don't work very well... But I'm still having a blast.

Think Ranger not as an uber profession, but a way of life =)

"what is the point of the camps now?"

Camps did have a purpose before the developers attached the pet calling to them:

  • Namely, they are supposed to be safe havens to rest and heal between battles.

Reality is a little different, due to several nagging bugs, and the fact that a good droid can perform most the functionality of the high end camps better (and yet the DE still complain ).

The developers are looking into improving the usefulness of camps... But that is a "future" thing, and we don't really know what their plans are at the moment.

BF was never intended to be healed in camps... ever. So for all intents and purposes, it is not broken.
