Hello,

I'm thinking of getting into the Organics Market, and I was wondering what your opinions are on the best mix of Ranger skills and combat classes I should look into.

Thanks!

I find TK and Ranger mix well....many Rangers go to Rifleman...depends on your style and personal taste

Melee- TKA or Fencer. TKA helps to remove poison/disease that creatures can cause, plus the powerboost helps. Fencers' good because they have the stun baton and many high-level creatures have uber resists to Kinetic.

Ranged- I suggest Rifleman. As long as you have Brandy and a semi-decent tank, you're a killing machine.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

Yes, the TKA meditation line is especially tempting. Plus I could get close enough to actually use these traps...

TKA and fencer work well and so does rifles. I have pistoleer right now and really miss fencer.

swordsman isgreat - spinattack clears out lairs instantly, and kills everything that pops out.

counterattack is UNBLOCKABLE by the way.

I'm swordsman, ex-TKM, and I'll put my vote for (no offense to any TKMs) swords over TK any day of the week. Many high-end mobs are highly kinetic resistant, and the ability to swap a sword for a hammer (blast damage) and continue pounding away is incredibly helpful. I can't speak for rifleman, but I'm worried about a critter closing with me and killing me posthaste. Swordsman area & mind attacks are fantastic for mobs, and you lay out damage like a machine.

The TK's meditation is useful, but since I've switched over, I only miss ita little bit. The only thing I would use it for would be disease and poison......and even those I ignore when buffed. I have novice medic for minor healing of wounds, which is easily doable while waiting for a shuttle, so the meditation of wounds is superflous. Disease will never blackbar you more than your original stats, and when you're buffed for 2400+, it's not worth worrying about. Also, while waiting for a lair to pop the first then second set of mobs, that's a good time to pull a med droid and do a fast in-field healing if disease gets too bad for you.

It all comes down to efficiency. If you are doing ranger to harvest for money, you;ll want the highest damage per minute ratio as possible. Kill, harvest, move on as quickly as possible. Personally, i like being able to tank a full lair and kill them all within a minute, then move on.

Just my $.02, take it for what it's worth.

Ranger is basically designed around rifle skills mate.

  1. You get crawl speed increase and conceal shots

  2. Stand at 50m from your target and you get single pull ability.

  3. We have traps that keep creatures at distance (more specifically scout traps)

  4. Shot Concealment (explained below)

Standing: Instant agro

Kneeling: 1/2 shots or instant agro

Prone: 1/2/3 shots or instant agro

Standing - /mask: 5+ shots unagroed

Kneeling - /mask: 7+ shots unagroed

Prone - /mask: 10-12+ shots unagroed

Standing - /conceal: 9-10+ shots unagroed

Kneeling - /conceal: 13-15+ shots unagroed

Prone - /conceal: 18-22+ shots unagroed

Camo is great for hunting mops, especially those with poisons and deseases. You can take down almost all high level 'mobs' one at a time with auto-fire or specials without ever pulling agro if your camo holds.

Also keep in mind if you are rifle you will be at 50m + so when/if you pull agro you will still be able to kite most creatures for a few vital shots.

For overall hunting id say rifle completely, any other time id go swords, they rock

Swords and Rifleman. TK is cool but you kind of get limited with only being able to do Kinetic DMG, And Boy Do I love a Good Power Hammer or T21
