Ranger Archive

I have always used ranged weapons and professions since I started playing but I have decided that it is time to get my hands dirty. I'm curious what you guys would suggest as a good melee class to compliment Ranger.

They are all pretty good. Fencer has awesome defense against...everything. Swordsman do tons of damage. And TKA's are just....fun, but they are limited by only having 1 damage type. I never tried pikeman enough to get a real feel for it, so I dont know a whole lot about it. However, I myself would strongly suggest that you wait until after the combat balance before making any radical changes. Everyone but CH's are getting a big smack from the nerf bat (which I whole heartedly approve, noone should be able to solo enraged rancor lairs). So if you give up all the work you have already done you might regret it later if the melee profession you choose is no longer very fun after the combat balance.

Pikemen are good for AoE attacks (group knockdowns, group dizzies, etc.) and so they're good for clearing medium level spawns. Swordsmen get the hammer, which does Blast damage, which is nice, since most creatures don't have much resist against it. Fencers get stun, which is also not often protected against, and they get great defence. TKA gets fast attacks and a decent knockdown, as well as the ability to heal their own wounds, disease, poison. Powerboost is nice as well.

Depends on how you want to play, really.
