Thread: Devs, get your act together and DO SOMETHING

Ok, i know i'm probably going to get flamed by a couple of rangers that post here often but to be frank... i'm sort of pissed at these devs.
I have been playing since about 3 weeks after the launch of this game and I have master Artisan,Scout,Marksman,Ranger, Pistoleer, and dabbled in Weaponsmith and Bh, so i wouldn't consider myself a "hardcore" gamer, but defintly not a "nub".
I recently have been reading through these posts and I would like to first aknowlege all the hard work all you rangers out there are doing to make this profession better. Theres one problem... these devs dont seem to have their act together. I'm sorry, but people who argue that the devs are busy or working on something else is NOT an excuse. You guys got to remember that we do PAY a decent fee per month to these guys. I personaly dont CARE if they are working on Light speed or some other cool project. What i do care about is that those devs get their act together and freaken make this profession what it's supposed to be...
The only good thing that I like about ranger is that we all can make really really cool "cities" tents. Other then that.. our profession sort of blows. I have fought off many attacks on this profession from Master whoever's who say i should change or that this profession sucks because this profession is sort of rare and different/cool.
Anyway, to get to my point, instead of defending these Devs, i say we get angry. They should fix this proff.!!!
...Along with Pistoleer! lol. its just sad to look at this..
I guess the only real reason why i hang around in this game is because of the my anticipated release of jump lightspeed, but personaly i think the devs fixing what is already out is way more important. Its sad to see proff like this so messed up. Think about it... i know this game isn't all that realisitc, even comparing it to the sci fi world of the star wars books, but why can rangers harvest like 120 hide, but only 120 meat??? i think the volume of the creature is MUCH greater then its surface area... Anyway, its sort of stupid.
As for when the devs say that they are waiting for combat release to come out to fix stuff, i say who cares?? just give us our stuff suck or not. its better then having nothing. Jeez, at least keep us hungry for more.. They are sort of starving us to the brink of death, and then they are going to feed us a freaken cow and say eat up.. my point being is that by the time all the new fixes coem out, it seems to me that MOST of us will have lost interest and move on...
Anyway, sorry about this rant. its just been bugging me like crazy. Now dont flame me and say, well why dont you give us some ideas... because i Have, even though they werent that good.
My main complant being that we back the devs up way to much for what they give us in return. Many rangers defend them... but for what?? what have they done for us??? NOTHING. Lets get mad people and put an end to this stupid thing. Come on devs, DO SOMETHING!!!

I would hope no one would "flame" you for stating your opinion...but Calc has very nicely asked us not to start threads with this sort of subject. Any way I could convince you to change it?
Either way, whining/getting angry will do nothing right now. They have more than enough on their plates right now. IE:
Jump to Lightspeed. New profs, new races, new art, new physics.TONS of work
Combat Balance. Again, new abilities, new art, lot of new stuff. Tons of work
Smuggler Revamp. This has already been promised. THey're not gonna change the order, no matter how much you ask them. This has already been promised to people and lots of work has gone into it.
Squad Leader Revamp. Same as above. Tons of work, and it's already been promised.
Thus, AT THE LEAST we have 4 things ahead of us. Maybe if they don't put us in AFTER these, I would see getting angry now...until then, in the words of Cortana from HALO...."you can just float and sputter".
Getting angry now just makes you look like you have no self control. I'm not opposed to anger in and of itself, but unconstructive anger and threads that go against the wishes of our wonderful Correspondant do little in my mind, except hurt us.

Anyway, you just stated something I totally go against...
Stupid Jump to Light Speed. For all I know I'm not paying these guys to work on it. Im paying them to work on Star wars galaxies.. An empire divided.. Not some expansion. The expansion I will have to buy... thefore that is where they will get their money for that, and also the extra months of subscription they get from releasing an expansion..
My point being, that those devs that are working on both JPE and ED should only be working on ED if they are getting a pay check from MY money. I Completly understand Combat blance and squad leader.. Smuggler i'm sort of so-so. there are more professions that need help.. *cough* Pistoleer *cough*. So to me they only have 3 things..
Stuff such as "they are working on Jump to Ligthspeed" or the recently realsed Old pod race tracks.. come on.. pod race tracks... fixing professions... pod race tracks.. hmm let me pick.. lol. come on!

oh, and who's to say how biga "unit" of a resourceis? A "unit" of meat is probably much bigger than a "unit" of hide. They made "units" different sizes to use comparable numbers.

well, that "unit" sort of works.. Havn't played for like 2 weeks now.. so i think a tent uses more hide then bone. so i see your point. It would be nice if they adjusted the number... leave out the confusion for the stupid people.

Once again I'm kind of in the middle here, and I'll try to say this without flames for either side. I agree with Barbarossa in that we shouldn't be paying for broken code/lack of content, whatever you want to call the downside of Ranger(or even SWG as a whole).I also agree with Calc on his post today about "why don't the devs read ...." and all that. It seems to me that someone has made a bad judgment call in deciding that more should be added to the game( I'm being general here not ranger specific) before what is there gets fixed. I have only been a ranger for a month or so and I don't think I'll ever drop it once I hit master. BUT.......I also think we may be being a bit too nice and patient. Has anyone thought of invading the dev/concept boards? Perhaps we should start posting our ideas on other forums on a constant basis. the concept and development forums seem to be full of posts asking for ideas, why don't we give them our ideas.
Like I said, I've only been one of you for a month so I don't know if it's been tried before. I don't want us to all flame and **edit** like whiny 12 year olds, but I think we should try even harder to make our voices heard. the devs don't post on this forum or give feedback, fine then we start posting on the concept forums too. I don't blame Calc for any inaction or lack of comunication but it's starting to become obvious to me that we need to make a bit more of a stir to get results. I am all for that approach as long as we do it in a mature manner. Please fire back any thoughts as to how to do that. The best I've got at this time is for all of us to post in other forums on a constant basis.

My favorite part is how junk dealers had a revamp, and then the junk kits get put in before we got what we were told we'd have 11 months ago.
