Thread: Hunting Trip Fees

What's the going rate for taking people hunting? That is, tracking a certain type of creatur for them. I've been getting asked a lot lately, and while I don't want to rip anyone off, I don't want to get ripped off myself. I don't know if there's a standard rate out there, but it probably wouldn't be a bad idea. Thanks

Hmmmm.... good question, some have said 100K an hour but I would ask my potential customer what he/she would pay me for tracking their critter (If the offer is "generous" I accept).

Basically, I get rewarded after the fact that I locate the critter, if I can't locate it, I won't.

However, if in fact we can set a standard fee accross the board, I could use that as a template.

That's one hell of an idea, I'm actually suprised we haven't come up with something like this sooner. One thing that is probably holding anyone back from posting the idea is. How should we charge, one flat fee, or an hourly rate? And what if we charge by the hour and we find something right off the bat? that's a really good service we've provided. But because we're so good at it we end up screwing ourselves out of credits. and what if we charge a flat fee and don't find anything for the customer? We put in our time for naught, and thusly we've screwed the customer out of their hard earned credits. Becuase we've put in our time, and our time should be worth something, however the customer hired us to find a critter, we didn't come through so they're thinking why pay us for basically a no show. A difficult quandry.

I usually don't hire myself out for less than 30K. and that's up front. usually more if I actually find what I was hired to find.

I don't do it often, but when I have charged it has been 40k an hour

I usually hire for an hourly rate. I usually get offered 100-150k per hour whether I find anything or not. Time is worth something, but all terms are agreed upon before the hunt starts. I try to be upfront and honest with all customers. perhaps we should charge a low flat per hour rate, with a big payoff IF(although that should be when) we find something.

I only track for my guild mates and close friends. Anyone else is always rude and orders me to track for them, they don't ask nicely. I've been bribed before when I tell them I'm hunting for a doctor and can't do it, nor do I WANT to do it. I don't like bribes. LOL. Krayts, and Peko Albotrosses are big now because of the jedi quests and I will not track for an albotross. Why should I help a jedi when I help my guild track em, muhahaha. Yes I help BHs. Anyway, I don't track for people I don't know well. If they don't like it, they can deal with it.

I wouldnot do it for less than100K per hour... I have personally not been requested to hunt Black Suns, but when that day comes... I will let them decide payment, but not do it for less than what I described above.

But that's just me

Having thought about it, how's this for an idea: we charge a flat fee for showing up (I'm usually heading somewhere else when asked), then a fee per critter located. These fees would probably change, depending on the rarity and danger of the creature. Krayts, for example. how about 100K to go, then 50K/krayt found (whether they kill it or not). Harvesting rights would be cool too.

I do this now for Creature Handlers for baby hunting. 20k per fifteen-minute block of time is my fee for this. I have been developing an idea for regular hunts for guilds and groups. It revolves around Nightsisters. Most folks are starting to look for rare loot and weapons that can be found on these spawns. So I was thinking of arranging hunts for them with 40k per fifteen-minute block of time for that service.

I have a group of acquaintances that regularly request me for my use of traps. Unlike other Rangers I find extreme value in my traps. I have become known for making the hunting of high-level creatures much safer and fun. All of my hunting companions cannot stop thanking me for my intelligent use of traps. I know a lot of you consider the traps to be a broken skill set but I have to disagree. I live by my stink bombs, glow sticks, and adhesive mesh traps.

I've been in a few groups that have wanted me to hunt Dragons, for those I got 50 to 100K, and harvesting rights. I let them loot the dang things, those pieces that they loot are useless to me since I don't craft, and the bazaar only goes to 6K.
