Silently stalking through the woods the last Enraged Rancor did not notice Maxx creeping towards him. The tracking master checked his trusty VKs and checked to insure he was downwind from the massive beast. Plunging out of the sickly brush that seems to inhabit the entire cursed world of Dathomir Maxx hurled himself at the beast. Charging Wampa changed to a thrust that knocked the beast off its feet, Maxx then proceeded to hit it with 60 traps consecutively...he never wondered why, he just knew to gain enlightenment he must understand how these traps fair against such a beast.
After the beasts prowress in combat was sufficiently hampered Maxx took to the art he knew all too well deftly avoiding razor sharp claws as big as his leg. The few that came close seem to just scrape his Ubese Armor a final lunge and kick and the beast fell too many small cuts through its legs and chest to sustain the blood loss.
Maxx stood before his kill, thanked the creator for his hand of protection and focused his thoughts in meditation to stop the bleeding that had resulted from gash in his side.
After meditating on his kill he stripped the beast of its hide and knew that he was ready for enlightenment. Maxx traveled to Coronet the hub of the universe it seems to learn from the fierce eyed ranger who hangs on the outskirt of town with a tiny camp surrounded by urban sprawl. The man told Maxx, "You are almost ready, but first you must show your ability to teach others or I can not show you the secrets of the true Ranger!"
Sighing, Maxx ran off and taught a friend of his how to aim his weapon 20 times (after just learning it himself) then ran back to the old man and gained enlightenment.
I am a Ranger. One who shares, and exists with nature. By Fist or Scent, by Track or trap I hunt all in the wilderness with hands of steel. I have achieved a Mastery of the art.
btw new Master Ranger on Chilastra. Have to say I have always been curious of the profession, and after trying it out with the help of some little Frogs on TC2 I gave it a go...cant say Im happy about losing my godlike defenses, but since Im a PVE'er Ill be ok
Thanks to the guides above for helping me get through this process.

/congrats on the new Rangerliness and thanks for the short story. Like that.
Them wee blue frogs have been good to the Rangers, y'know. There's more than a couple of recent recruits who've come into the fold after giving MR a spin on TC2.
