When you go hunting for resources, do you normally go solo in order to maximize the credits that you get per mission, or do you join large groups in order to maximize the number of resources that you can collect and then sell?

Are there any Ranger hunting parties that just get together and go out hunting for the resource of the week?

Does the term harvesting amoeba mean anything to you?

Actually I mostly go solo so i dont lose the 60%. But a lot of times i'll grab my guild and we will go hunting for something to do

I read the title of the post and thought "why are they hunting us ?"

lol

I tend to hunt with my guildies, as the resource we're looking for is usually for a guildmember, and overall we'll collect more in a group.

the problem is actually being able to see anything with 2 master commandos present. For a while there I thought explosions and smoke were a permanent part of the scenery !!

When it comes down to hunting, I like to be alone. I dont like having people with me that want to chat all the time...there's plenty of time for that when with my guild. Antisocial? Perhaps but ranger suits me down to earth.

On Shadowfire our ranger guild, often go hunting together. At times it suprises people...to see 6 master rangers sitting in a camp on the middle of Naboo, hunting Kaadu =P. You take a small loss, but after we all get 14 missions together and dont have to go looking for kaadu's, not to mention 7 people tracking aren't going to miss a wild lair of 'em...I think in the long run we make as much if not more harvesting wise, and the comraderie is fantastic.

currently I do a lot of solo stuff. But I used to run a group called RoB, and we did group stuff. It worked for all, because with a well organized and tactically sound group, you can take stuff down much faster then solo. If possible the creature you desire can be had with missions. So everyone gets 2, and you hit each one, with the group, everyone harvesting every kill. Eeach person gets much more then they would in that same time solo.

FOr the most part I've been hunting solo, or with small groups of either complete novices or just a small group of folk I know. Quite enjoy going along with just one other person, maybe a pistoleer or a melee fighter, just because it feels 'informal' enough to be fune and the different weapon / combat types can compliment each other.

So... I know the GRM are great fun (for thos of us that just 'turn up' if not for the brilliant people who have hosted them) so I can envisage a Ranger Hunt Party being a bit special.

Certainly on Bria this past couple of weeks I've noticed a lot more rangers of all flavours and, as a result, have been toying with the idea of a Brian Hunt. Either heading up to Naboo or Lok and going after herb meat, cos then I could tempt a doctor along too, or staying on Tat and just blasting the bejaysus out of squill or rondo.

Any of the Brian's be up for it? And of course, if anyone wanted to fly a novice scout in from galaxies far, far away, am sure they'd be more than welcome...

Remember, at the moment this is just a vague notion, but if anyone fancies it, it could soon firm up...

I know in a large solo group, your harvesting capability is cut dramatically. There is a decent shift of Tatooine Insect Meat on Ahazi atm and I was getting frustrated the other night, cuz I was only able to get thelower yieldRock Beetle lair missions or a dinky Giant Sand Beetle mission that only produced 3 beetles for me solo (when I didn't get a 'baby' or they didn't 'poof' before I could kill them).

I'm fairly new to the whole 'harvesting for a living' profession so I'm not sure of all the little tricks to the trade. I've combed alot of Ranger thread's and have yet to find if this is something new or if it's a 'no brainer.' But anyway, I decided to join a solo group, a full one. Naturally a Giant Sand Beetle that would normally yield over 100 units only yielded around 40 units or so while I was in the group. What I decided was, since I could make more off the resource than the mission payout, to take 2 missions then go tothe firstlocation and let the server spawn the mission then set a waypoint for that lair. Aborted it then went to the next mission and did the same thing. I'd go back to the mission terminal and take two more missions, then rinse/repeat. I did this for 8 lairs I think. I went to all my previous aborted missions waypoints, crossing my fingers the entire trip. Upon arriving and finding those lairs still there with a full 5 creature spawn (15 total from the lair) I disbanded from the group and commenced to cleaning house at each waypoint I had set. So instead of getting 24 Beetles from8 solo missions, I was able to kill (theoretically) 120. 120 Beetles X 100+- meat per beetle = alot more meat for me! Does everyone else do this as well?

If you have any CH, or don't mind going overt to bring out a factional pet, or hgiher end droids, group with, they can help you up the difficulties on mission's so you can avoid the solo group needs. Obviously getting yourself an at-st if your imp is the no brainer, that alone and your looking at 80+ difficulty missions.

On the other hand join a solo group, get your big missions in one direction (try to get them long range) and when your done with those be the ranger you are and /areatrack for more wild spawns of 'em.

Need into a biggish group to up your missions?

Never forget your friendly neighbourhood entertainers. Some will let us rangers and scout types join their group, run across the road and get a mission, for just a kind word, compliment or dammit, a tip.

Unless its one of the groups of entertainers I know and work with as an entertainer with from time to time* I'll drop out once I've got my missions so as not to have their chat spammed with **** has harvested 24 units of milk from the corpese of a kaadu.

*(hey, I got more than one toon, so, careful who you're flirting with**, hehe)
**(I got the names and the screenies. Blackmail may follow)
**** yeah, like am going to tell.

That would be funny! I wonder who would win: a group of bounty hunters vs. a group or rangers

If I'm collecting a specific resource, unless it's non-soloable with buffs, I go solo. (Just made TKM.) Otherwise, it doesn't matter to me either way.
