Thread: Skeleton/Loot kits

I didnt know where to stick this originally, but I figure the Ranger proffession would be the best fit. But seeing as there are loot kits floating around and museums that seem empty of cool stuff...why not liven it upa bit. I know the loot kit thing is a mess, 1000 creds for all the work, but i see the collection of bones to erect a skeleton as a more "player involved" in the buying process. This would be like harvesting, except now there would be a extra option, such as "loot". The odds of actually getting a bone, or a piece of the puzzle would be dependent on the rarity of the animal. (Easier to get all the bones needed to construct a Dewback over say a...Rancor...or other rare animal) This can be done for the "extinct" creatures too, by using the /forage, which would be rare to get a bone, based on rarity and specific to the creature. Now, to construct the skeleton, the schematic being earned once you find a bone for the creature, you start the crafting process. The rangers would only be dependent on the artisan proffesion for...glue. Which would be cheap for them to make and to prevent price gouging, the schematic for it will be in the middle of the skill tree for artisan.

Anyhow, I amjust throwing this out there. I am not a Ranger yet, but maybe someday. Just curious what you all think of it.

I like this idea. There have been a lot of discussions in the past that we should have the ability to create animal trophies, but I like the spin this puts on the concept.

I too like this idea, and it fits well with the earlier taxidermy proposal.

You should copy it to the In Concept forum (I think?) , or after seeing the resto of the comments here, perhaps might want to modify it slightly to make a more 'solidly supported' suggestion.

I'm not sure that adding an extra schematic to artisan or other professions would be as readily accepted as just having an extra couple of loot kits. Say a mounted bol skull, stuffed kaadu...

Also, making a profession specific lot kit might be problematic as the game system would have to check what profession every character had every time they looted, and also you can be sure that, if we got this, all other profs would want something specific to their line of work.

(Which actually I think would be a BRILLIANT idea but is getting well away from a nice, simple, 'easy' to implement idea like a couple of extra loot kits).

Absolutely brilliant idea!

I love it but, like Almagill, I don't feel that it should be profession specific, unless it plans to rely heavily on foraged items.

Good job!

Well I am glad, the idea sounds good to you all. Guess that means i need to work out the kinks before droppin it off in the In Concept forum.

But a thought that ocurred to me on the profession(ha...i spelled it right this time)specifics. Making this available to all is a good idea, but why not have the ranger/scout profs gain skill bonuses when searching for bones. Like a +5 or something, per so many skill boxes. Maybe have a +40 or whatever number for Master Ranger. Thus, increasing the odds of finding stuff.

I saw the taxidermy idea the other day, so that got me thinking. Suppose a Creature Handler has a pet, which has its vitality drop to 0 eventually. Why not be able to stuff that "pet" so as to keep the memory alive...or somethin like that.

1000 creds if you turn them into a junk dealer, several million if you sell them to another player. And yes, I'm one of the "idiots" buying them for that much. Would be different if creatures dropped them too. I hate killing NPC's, keep thinking: "if this was a creature I would have had an x amount of hide/bone/meat too"

It's a good idea, would be nice to see implemented.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.
