howdy. hv been master 2 hand and rifle for quite a while. hv been out hunting black suns on yavin for last while. takes forever to spot any of them so i got to thinking there had to be an easier way. hmmm.... ranger tracking. after completely tearing apart my char to get the master scout and first 2 boxes in ranger tracking, i am back on yavin. hv been running around the hot spots and doing the npc scan every few hundred meters. the only sighting of blacksuns i hv had was after a negitive scan i went about 25 meters and had a black sun assasin jump me. how does the tracking actually funtion. i had assumed when u did a scan it would scan 400m radius around you and report back anything in the area. it seems tho it only reports back whut is actually visable or already spawned up for me. ie: the assisin that the tracking did not catch but my moving 25 meters caused to spawn. the tracking seems to catch the static spawn npcs at around 400m away. am i missing something or is it just messed up for hunting npcs?

help please and thanks

Wow that wasnt easy to read. Ok first things first. The word is have not hv. It really isnt that diffucult to spell and doesnt take that long to work out.

Next there is a hole in tracking at 100m thats a known issue which might be where your blacksuns came from. Second if you were doing the swoop up, area track, mount again fly off. Then there never was a chance to have them show up on tracking. This is why a lot of rangers go on foot or on mounts not swoops because the server literally needs to catch up with you. Last reason is simply you were in the wrong place when the server decided to drop a blacksun assasin in that location.

yeah, i'm havinga lot oftrouble following this as well......

but i think i'm seeing what you're asking.

Tracking works only as far as the load boundary is active. if you have your computer set on the lowest settings, you'll most likely have a very close in loading range,

If a random spawn is triggered at a specific spot within your radius, but it could also be that your computer was not syncing with the server correctly at that point.

Keep in mind that if you increase draw distance, you lose performance (get lag) unles you have an uber video card.

The best fix for lag that I ever did was to upgrade to 1Gig of RAM. I upgraded my card later to get the highest graphics but once I changed to a gig of ram I was lagless, even in coro on a speeder.

Hmm. I'll have to try "But love, if you get me an uber videocard for my birthday I'll be able to track further and won't get killed so often... and that'll put me in a good mood.. /wink /wink"

Well I'm safe, 2.5GB RAM covers me fine. I haven't had any lag yet

Show-off

Gawd, I am seriously behind the times.. my "gaming machine" is an Athlon XP1500 with 512MB of Memory , at least I have a 128MB GeForce 4 video card to slightly beef up the machine

No wonder I get killed so quickly when tracking Krayts, they're always standing behind me laughing at my PC specs while I /area

Usually works fine for me... unless my wife is using the wireless network to transfer 90210 and Melrose from the Tivo onto her computer.

Then i start lagging in the middle of nowhere.

Instead of asking for a new videocard let me say rule 2 of marriage

"Forgiveness is easier then acceptance"

in other words "Honey can i get a new Superduper megazod 9x642!" is a hard sell. But "Hey dear i see on the credit card statement it shows $500 for Best Buy whats that?". The second is easier to sell.
Oh yeah rule 1 is simply this when she says "Go ahead and get a video card" you dont ask, debate about level, you just smile and go to the store.

You are my hero! I use that approach too... When I ask the wife if it is ok to get something she says "You are going to get in anyway!"
