I personally find it as a spoiler to show GCW enemy players on the minimap (radar). Say if they were to turn off the radar for showing enemy overt players to your faction, Tracking players would be 100x useful, right? That would give a major roll to the ranger in the new GCW, scouting an enemy's position. I know many mmorpgs do not have a minimap that show players, or even the npcs.
I just think having a minimap showing enemy player positions (npcs are okay) is a huge problem in PvP. And kinda steals our role in scouting the enemy with our Tracking.
Anyone else feel it's kinda stupid that minimaps show overt enemy players?
Ah, just my thought

We actually had a discussion on the scout boards about this.
There was a theory that we could try to take the players off of the maps, but there would be a possible way of hacking the client on your computer so that they would show up anyhow (which would have made some people have a large advantage).
Only time will tell.

Yeah, this sort of thing happened in DAoC. There was a radar program on there, in the earlier times. But, they eventually stopped it to my understanding with newer patches. So, it is possible i bet, to stop this kind of thing.
I can't think on the top of my head of what other mmorpg I've played that had a radar showing enemies (DAoC,MxO,WoW- no radar). I think shadowbane is the only other one i know that had the minimap show enemies, not positive though.
It would be something to definitely look forward to in the near future.

It's an interesting idea.
My initial raction though is that it kinda seems like nerfing another profession to make rangers better by comparison. So this is like nerfing everyone except rangers to make rangers cool. Just my reaction... not here to pick a fight.

Thanks for responding,
However, I don't see that as nerfing any profession. World of Warcraft for example, the hunter class in there has an ability to track every human player, which is good because minimaps do not show enemy faction players. Other classes do not get this ability, therefore making them more stealthy and a an actual Hunter. But with this game, I could see how it would be a problem. Because, most if not everyone can just dabble in and get the ability and in some cases i could see how it would be an almost requirement to do so. While, in WoW you picked the class and was stuck with it, not as flexible.
But anyway, this is probably something that would never be implemented cause it's one of those things that are most important to the game and changing it would be a huge change to how the game is played.
