Thread: It's nice to be apart of a useless profession (Just My Opinion)
50 cpu for Good Woolly that 240 units of goes into a 285k suit of armor... that gets my goat. It realy does. But I would really just prefer that every one stoped this marking everything up 1000% or more.
I once had a Chef contact me about some meat. She offered a price. I looked the meat and the chef schems up. My meat would have been 5% of the cost she was sell the product for. I mail her and say "I'm thinking about going Cheff how much of your time does it take to make a case of that?" Answer "30 seconds if that, its all about harvesters and factories." Ugh. The meat in that case was about 2 to 5 min. of my time. Ugh again.

I got the 2nd account because i "DIDN"T" want to drop Ranger to master another profession in the beginning. (Did i clear that up for ya)Second. For those who saw my post as a rant of fustration, i say thank you. I received about 24 email from players who understood my position. These players and myself would like to see changes made to this profession to make it what we believe would be even more fun to play. We want to see camps that provide a usefull function again. We want to see things added that are Ranger Spacific. Revamp the traps, make camps that have moduler sockets that can be upgraded. Add a cooking mod to the tents that allow you to create Ranger bonus foods. There alot of great ideas out there, but i fear that there will never be any changes and that the DEVS will throw chincy little bones our way now and then. I might be asking for too much, but the one thing that would make play longer is a profession that is creative.Area Track is ok, nothing big. Ya you can find things faster, but i have never had a problem finding what i wanted and unless your going after a spacific creature for it's resource, then again, Area Track is just OK.Camps. Look i love the HTFB. It's the one camp i went crazy about the first time i saw it. But it's useless. I can pull out my Med droid and at Novice Medic, i can heal myself and anyone else with me.Traps. After i made my last box, i haven't used them since. I kill most anything just fine without them. There a great idea, but need to be changedCamo Kits. Used them only a few times. Again, there just ok. Mask sent works just fine for me. Ya it breaks now and then, but no biggie.Wayfaring. Crawling fast might be good for others, but nothing i would want to spend skill points on.Master Ranger. NADA!!!! we get nothing. Now that is just not fair.I don't think you'll find a more deadicated group of player as you would in Rangers. It's just i'd like to see the happy wand waved our way and i don't have the heart to come back in 4,6 or 9 months and read about the same'ol things.I love the Ranger title above my name, because i am a Ranger. I'm a former Army Ranger with the 75th, Alpha company. I'm a gulf war vet and feel passionately about the word Ranger and what it stands for. Yes i know this is a game and i know this profession is not modeled after an Army Ranger, but i've invested pleanty of time into in and would like it to see it get its due changes.Just my thoughtsMessage Edited by Stile2112 on 02-15-2005 08:46 PM
I haven't really seen any of the older vet Rangers post to this. But most of your ideas have been presented, re-packed, presented, re-packed, presented.
And to this day, NOTHING! NADA!
I see the frustration, and I agree. No offense against the elders on this forum who wait it out, because we all have. Let the guy vent. Get off his back.

I'm sorry Doc,
I have to disagree with you. I feel that the pricesare fair, if I felt otherwise I wouldn't hunt / track.
Needless to say... It seems you have everything under control, you say that you set the price for your time and your customers pay that price. Seems there's no need for a "major strike". ![]()
Just takeDoc's as an example.... they "define" the price for Avian Meat... if the price would be to low nobody would set out to hunt for it.... So, it's not like as if they decide. I'veexperienced occasionswhere the price was set to low and forced to beadjusted as nobody wouldtake the bait. So, we act upon a fair reward, whilst ignore the less profitable ones(Who's got the control?).

I think my main point kinda went by the wayside here. First off, unlike most professions, we actually have to spend time (and alot of it sometimes) doing our thing, even well after master. We are making a living, great, but crafters are making a killing off our hard work. They are low balling the heck out of us, then tripling (and sometimes more) the price of our hard work. I don't mind getting paid what I get paid, what I mind is not being able to afford a dang thing with it, even though most of the stuff I want to buy is a direct product of MY hard work. I guess I don't care about gettng paid more, I care about paying less. If they won't raise our wages, they should be dropping their prices.

Which server has that wierd and completly non-standard economy where ressource hunting is not one of the most profitable things to do not counting crafting?
I am a very, very casual contract hunter and never ever felt anything like "poor"
