Thread: Why always me?

So there we were, no schiznit... five of us hunting picket lairs on Dant last night and having a ball with the whole double xp thing. One problem I ran into was that despite the TKM, the Master Swordsman, the Brawler and the Carbineer beating the hell out of the picket, as soon as I shot, I GOT AGRO'D. Was it me, do I smell that bad or something? Never failed either and I was the second highest level combatant in the group with MR & Sniper (4112 rifles).

And I was having a hell of a time with consistancy on my improved sniper shot to. It was an annoying night. But when I did hit, for 10k, those shots were golden.

So what's with the agro, is there something I'm missing?

Ah yes....some of the newer peeps haven't heard my theory on the Creature to Hit bonus that we get...

Most people think it gives us a better chance to hit a critter, but in reality, it give the Creature a better chance to hit us! Therefore, if you are in a group of, well, now, 8 people and you are a Ranger...you will always be the target of a critter's aggression!

Since the first time i have been a ranger (close to 2 years ago) i have always drawn the most agro in the group when i was a ranger.. when i was a master rifle/ pike...

no problems, yet the ranger in the group was always agroed.

now im a master ranger again.. they chew on my head again

With the current hate system in place whomever is doing the most damage is the one drawing the aggro of a MOB.

Case in point my friend is Master Rifles like me. He has slightly better rifle.

When we fired the same shots he always drew the aggro. I was standing between 10 and 20 meters at times from MOBs and he was always pulling aggro.

I could run up and nail a Krayt with P-darts slow the thing down and not draw aggro. As long as my friend was hitting for more than I.

My daughter with pets out could not hold the aggro like she could before.

But if I P-darted the MOB for her. Her almost grownBoar Wolf CL58(65)was able to tank and take down Krayts.

If you had slain, gutted, and skined hundreds of my kin, I'd come after you first too!

Well... there is THAT

I figured it was the highest damage theory but kinda needed some reassurance. I'm somewhat unstable like that.

Somone hold me

I have been a Ranger forever.

Rule #1 has always stated: In a group of X, the probability that the Ranger will be aggroed is 100%.

Further, doing nothing will get you aggroed, to include being LD.

Just an added benefit of being a Ranger.

Yeah, I've kinda noticed that, especially with maskscent. I'm an MR and have maskscent with jawa beer to enhance it and will be flying with a group past a MOB. My maskscent will get broken and I'll get agro'd but the rest will fly safely by.

Not sure if you still can with them being re-re-re-balanced (or whatever you want to call it), but the other day when the CU went "live" and even ancients were spawning at most around level 80, you could land traps on 'em. Heck, I solo'd two of the adolescents myself as MR / MRM and then took on a grand, another grand, and an ancient. Fun times, probably the only time I'll ever be crazy or stupid enough to solo 'em like that. Made for a fun evening tho, working out the issues with how I wanted my toolbar setup and figuring out some small amount of tactics and such. Plus, they were about the only wild spawn I found on Tat that was close to level 80 and would net any real XP, and I didn't feel like running back and forth to a mission term all night.

Juvies were CL77, Grands were 80 and ancients were 83.

P-darts worked on all of them. Honestly I was surprised also they never worked before.

So I sat down and made all the traps and tried them. I was only really satisified with P-darts. The rest seemed like a waste of my time.

Hehe..

Creatures love Rangers

In addition, you will find this amusing...so do NPCs and Turrents. I get Agro'd all the time. I'm a walking "auto-rescue." I just shoot and oh my, I'm now the target.
