Gurks on Lok, give both nice weapon exp and scoutexp and you'll always get 3cpu for the hide regardless of quality.

It used to be the higher the CL, the better the XP. Now it's based on con level, is it not?

AH could be, we were taking missions so the gurks were the same CL as the highest member of our group which was 80. I was/am 74.

That's exactly right Calc. In the next system, the "best" creature to hunt and harvest for maximum XP is actually whatever is a level or two above you (or your group) CL. If you're in a CL80 group, go after CL81 or CL82 creatures from missions. For every level about your CL that a mob is, you gain 10% xp per level (so CL82 gives a 20% boost to XP and isn't TOO much harder to take down). Scout XP for things around your level also seems like it's going to be great, and harvest amount was insane (close to 1000 units from a CL81 gualama w/another master Ranger and veghash, but more like 80 units off a "wild" one that was somewhere around, oh, CL30 or so maybe?).

So, the absolute best stuff to harvest is... whatever you can pull that's at or slightly above your CL. Good XP for your weapon + combat, good scout XP from the harvest, great yield on the harvested resources themselves.

Now I REALLY want a /track ability where I can specify the level and type of creature I get to hunt.... heheh...

I was going to say...prices for creature resources are going to drop, drop, drop! Not only has the need for most medicines been removed, the leftover meds have been put into a profession that is now overloaded (although a BE could tell you if they can keep up with demand or not). That coupled with the new harvesting system will create a huge overabundance of resources.

That being said...Tat avian meat might actually be EASY to collect now (imagine a level 80 Dwarf Nuna!!!).

Maybe when it comes to a good shift in meat.. I agree, prices will be coming down for BE and Chef meat.

But take a look at the new AS requirements. There are 3 planet specific hides (lok leather, dant wooly, naboo bristley), all 4 general types of hides are now needed... add to that, increased hide requirements for pieces, layers, segments and cores..

I think the new harvesting system is needed to meet the huge requirements. Where meat prices may drop, hide prices may stay around 30-50cpu. Sure, that's no 100cpu, but with the ability to harvest more/faster, it kind of balances out.

Even if meat went to 10cpu, that's still a fair amount considering the increase in amount harvested.

I forgot about all the AS needs...I still don't think we are going to be seeing too much in >100 cpu range.

But, as my sig says, predictions are hard to make, especially about the future .

right, I agree that prices are going to drop. However, I'm still seeing folks willing to pay 25-40 cpu for good quality organics at the moment.

Lvl 80 ranger solo, looking for Dantooine carnivore. Take 2 missions for voritors & grauls, roughly 20K for the mission payouts

6-7k or so of meat of those missions (lvl 78 or 79 I think, and I forgot to make sure I was using veghash at one point so harvested a little less), that's another 150-175k for 10min work.

Plus scout, trapping, combat & rifles XP.

Ranger is still definitely a monkey maker (and no, I don't mean Owen's *special* "monkey makin'"). Even if CPU prices drop to 10cpu, a Master Ranger hunting creatrues near their own CL will make that up in volume fairly quickly. If you get in a group with another Master, it's even faster. When you get to the point where you're pulling 15k of some resource off a single mission lair, and 2 Masters can pull 4 missions x 15k/mission/master with all the bonuses... that's 120k resources in what, 20-30 minutes of time hunting? Even at 10cpu, that's 1.2million credits (600k each). That's some good monkey makin'.

Hunting at your level is most certainly the way to go. The type of creature, at least at this moment, doesn't seem to make a hill of beans. I'm not sure what this ultimately means for the future of the scout or ranger who choses to hunt wild spawn vs being a mission term junkie, but I've seen some recent posts about balancing out higher end planets so maybe there is hope there that the Yavin / Endor / Dathomir / Dantooine spawns at least will start to be seen over level 30 for wild spawn. I hope so...

The short, one sided version is, I told someone what I thought...they disagreed with it, and they called me the thought police (I can't remember if I deserved it, or not ). Being the jerk I am, I tossed it in my sig, as a statement.

Hehe.. Yeah I know, I remember that post Calc. I just hadn't noticed it was in your sig yet.

The "I'm not sure what to think about that.. Can you tell me?" response was a joke.. you were supposed to tell me what to think.. Ya know, being the thought police and all....

/queue sound of crickets/silence

My joke failed miserably.
