I'm pushing them to keep the name Ranger in the game, but we can see here that the spy is essentially the new Ranger role. Of course, they did remove the hunter ideal of Ranger, but the paramilitary side is still there, in a sense.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

The greatest irony is that while some pushed for the removal of the fantasy type LOTR rangers to be replaced by the iconic Star Wars type of Ranger (a la the antarians/Imperial sector etc). Now we have the placement of a fantasy style Rogue in the game, with it barely covered by the laughable idea that SPY is an iconic SW class, after all didnt Leia once dress up like a BH, isnt that spying. Im spinning round in circles trying to figure it all out.

That's ok... so are the Devs.

To that very point tho, that's one thing that REALLY bugs me about being limited to only 1 toon if we aren't allowed to change or drop our profession/class after we're out of respecs. We see MOST of the major character fulfill many of those roles in the movies... let's take Han Solo, my favorite from the movie.s....

1) Ace Pilot

2) Smuggler

3) Spy (he conceals and dons opposite faction armor to rescue Leia, tho obviously his camo and conceal skills are not Master Level)

4) Commando & Officer (he leads the squad on Endor then they all help set demolition charges to blow the shield generator facility)

So.... if I want to be just like my favorite character... I'm gonna need multiple toons to experience all those facets of the game, or I need to be able to change my profession on the fly... here's hoping the devs see the light and we at least get a 2nd slot.

You forgot Shipwright too, he tinkers with his ship, REing his componenets all the time!

Anyway thats how SWG was immersive and Star Warsy, you could become whatever you wanted, a unique character if you will, just like all those unique characters in the films and books. Personally I dont see how removing that makes you MORE immersed in a Star Wars universe.

Well I have to say from the Class system and the Sats they are giving us, this sounds more like a tradional Table Top (or Pen and Paper if you must) RPG. Which is to say, they should let us dual class

In most Table Top games if you are dual class you have to split your XP between the two, meaning you advance at half the speed. It could also be totaly unbalancing if the system isn't built for it.

I don't know to much about the Current Table Top SW game, but I bet the NGE and it have at least few things in common.

I'm just hopping PvE is intersting again, the CU killed PvE for me, and lets face it that's why Ranger didn't have a place any more.

personally being immersed in a universe means im surrounded by many diverse people in many diverse environments doing many diverse things.

the star wars movies have lots of people other than the "9 icons" doing their jobs/duties/living their lives. you cant make it "more star warsy" by eliminating all but 9 characters, 8 considering two are leia (my least favorite of the main characters)

yeah, but the reply shows just how much educating we're going to need to do.

Been reading the NGE forums and, oh dear. We used to keep the special kids corralled in one or two places, now they're well, everywhere.

Fellow Rangers, please, try to set a shining example by being the mature, sane, sensible voices in the maelstrom.
