Thread: Frontiering ... how can I do this?

I am a Ranger 4,1,4,4 ... and I HATE trying to get Fronteiring XP

How in the world do I get more than 100XP per crafting sessionand 1000XP for 15minutes of camping with a buddy.

I've tried to do it the "real" way, by going out with a hunting group and making the best camp I can with all these people ... and I've also tried the "sit in your camp and grind" crafting thing ...

I guess what I'm asking is this; how did you do it? How do I become a Master Ranger before year's end!?!

72 hrs, that's what it took me to finish the whole Frontiering branch

It's the gateway to rangership, the time of meditation and self control

Honestly, you are doing what most of us will advice you to do.... Have some freinds join in, do some crafting, talk to your driod, learn all your emotes... enjoy the view, do some fishing...

I'm sorry.... that's just the way it is.

You know how, grind it. took me about a week to grind it. Just gotta....sorry mate.

Sit in camps (along a static city and very populated busy pa city/vendor world close to that city where you can get lots of visitors, and grind practice mode makin' camps while waiting to build the next. We know your pain lol.

This is how I did it.

1) Make a dozen of the best camp you are able to.

2) Go enjoy yourself with a little hunting to resupply your hide/bones. If possible, take some friends/guildies with you.

3) Throw down the camp and heal

Lather, rinse, repeat.

A month later, and behold! A new Master Ranger emerges!

Seriously though, what is the hurry? Enjoy the game, you'll get there eventually.

Also get yourself a good crafting macro and a few crafting stations. There is one in Brisc's scouting guide I think. Also, whether you use the macro or not, craft your stuff in practice mode - you get more xp that way.

I know it seems like it will take forever, but it really won't take that long - if you want to do it in the most enjoyable way possible though, don't grind it, just camp when you need to and with large groups of people. It might take longer than a week this way, but it won't hurt as much.

Set up a camp so that it hovers the edge of an area where you can fish, grab some friends and a couple of rods, and fish for a bit. Break down camp, repeat. Wouldnt hurt to have a doc there and a dancer, and have friends go kill stuff that bites back.

ROFL, did something similar in exacty the same place, but, as I'd been popping camps as I went, healing up, tinkering, sorting out my in game mails and stuff, I didn't find camping to be too much of a drag this time.

And yep, first time you set up that HTFB, even if you've been in a few before, you do kinda go WOW!!!

Second time I popped one was just outside the outpost on Dath, edge of the water, to do some fishing. Except I placed it a little wrong and I found myself swimming right up next to the canvas roof, the ground having dropped a good 20' or so.

Clambered out of the pool, up the cliff face I'd created and looked down on this IMMENSE circle of lights in the water and thought "I made this!"

Next thing I know, am getting spammed with tells asking if its something to do with JTL, is it one of the new bases for calling your spaceship and "**edit** IS THAT???"

Made me feel real speshul

lol

Since SOE has pretty much made camps obsolete, you'd think they'd remove this requirement.

I put on the Novice Medic and "Newbie Helper" tags and sat in camps right outside of Mos Eisley, behind the starport (a big, flat area popular with newbs). The newbies were so impressed with my cool camps that they'd come and check it out, I'd heal them for free, and they'd go back to killing rills and whatnot, needing healing again in another five minutes. It actually wasn't too bad -- made a lot of friends out of it, and had a pretty good time; it's funny, but the new players really appreciate free heals. However, when there wasn't much traffic (e.g. 2AM, lol) it gothorendously slow, and I just went and did other things.

That was thebest way I could figure it out -- at peak hours, when there was a good amount of people, it was actually pretty fun.

As far as time? It took me about a week to go from Frontiering 2 to 4 -- would've been faster, but on a smaller server, the xp I harvested was really dependent on the time of dayand how many people were online. I think I figured out that bringing two players back from near-death (healing wounds, too)maxed out the camping XP regardless of how long it'd been up -- but you'd have toexperiement yourself, I can't remember exactly, lol. I did get really good at knowing when to reset the camp, though, and, afterI got thehang of it,I remember doing Frontiering 4 in abouttwo days.

Still, it's just not a tree that dies slowly.

But the first time you set up the HTFB -- it's worth it.

Don't forget about all the quiet bits of the game...waiting for a buff, waiting for regen, waiting for shuttles. Just get out the crafting tools and grind out a few camps. It's a shame the shuttle wait time has been decreased, this provided me with lots of grind time as I always managed to arrive just after the last shuttle had gone...in fact /sign below for shuttle times to be increased!!!

Tar
