OK, so am often the first to throw a "Look, we're hunters not mercenaries" at people who 'demand' we go track their FoM creature for the quests BUT...
... I was running with a group of mixed ability players on TC2 (all masters naturally, heavy predominance of TKM / Swords) trying to get each others Mell missions done. Gave up in despair when, after the third run through, they were still making the same mistakes.
It's a creature with high resists. It has impressive melee abilities and is in a camp that heals it and it's pod mates. Why, oh why, oh why, couldn't they treat it like a dangerous creature in a lair. Use ranged attacks to take out the straggler. Draw each of the lower (hah) level creatures out of the lair area and all target the same one to get it on the ground, dead, fastest? Then get rid of the generators that are doing the healing OR if they really MUST attack the lair boss, focus their attacks on that and not go running off after individual targets all the time?
So.
Anyhow.
I got to thinking.
The Antarian Rangers are meant to be FS characters who assist jedi and other FS beings.
These quests are crying out for a group of highly organised marksmen with long range, hard hitting weapons, who can stay focused on the task, keep out of sight and aren't in it for the 'glory' of, whoopee, getting a Dark Sith medaillion or some credits from the downed beast.
Out of curiosity I took two other riflemen, rerolled my toon back to Ranger/Rifles and, using cammo, conceal shots and the longest range, were able to roll through a Mell camp in just a few minutes.
Seriously beginning to think that this is where AR fit in the 'big picture' now. Which seems okay, but, am still not sure it's 'rangery' LOL
