Arecent topic has surfaced regarding a proposal to move jedi combat to mainly on dathomir. This is so the GCW can cope better without CONSTANT jedi intervention. Seems prety good so far apart from when it goes into suggest turning dath into a war zone. You enter the war zones and you get a TEF attackable to jedi and opposite faction members.

What i have a problem with is what happens to us? or what happens to the PvE'er who love hunting on Dathomir?

I dont like the idea that after the CB hits and groups are much more viable we are going to be effectivly forced into PvP encounters when all we possibly want to do is hunt or guide a group on a hunting trip.

The proposal seems good in its intentions but i fear with far too much support being given just because it solves the GCW issues, people are failing to see how it would destroy the experience of lots of players who are hunting creatures and group hunting at that time. After the combat revamp and balance things are going to change and hopefully with our revamp we will be esential for hunting parties on these sorts of planets. I cant stress enough how much this would negativly effect us in terms of hunting groups go.

Obviously this is only a proposal and should be treated as one, not a final design, but it would be cool if you could voice your opinions if you havnt already, just so TH can see how much it would hurt other areas of the game.

Heres the link, scroll down until you see TH's post, he quotes the proposal and thinks it has good points: Hidden War Zones

if the jedi were placed on the very very far south-east corner of the map that would be ok. keep Rancor Valley away from anything related to Jedi

I could see this as going either way for us. It could be detremental to the hunting on that planet as you forsee, but it also could add an element of danger and excitement. And it could be an arena for us to take full advantage of our proposed skills. Say this somehow gets pushed thru in some form; now it's even more important for Rangers to have stealth from other players to protect us and groups we are leading from the dangerous Jedi roaming the planet in search of fresh blood. Our tracking skills can be vital to knowing if a jedi is in the area. Plus, even if jedi fighting were contained to one planet, I kinda get the feeling that it won't take place over vast areas. Even tho jedi aren't as "rare" as they should be, they still are "uncommon".

Hmmm...maybe I need to read that thread again. It seemed to me that the original suggestion was for the people who get missions to visit a number of wps in the war zones to get TEFs. I took that to mean if I was walking in those same zones minding my own business and hunting the occasional critter, I wouldn't be flagged.

Of course, even if this was the original suggestion, it could have mutated in the meantime.

I need that edit button, NOW!

There is another suggestion floating around from time to time to open Endor, Yavin and Dath for player houses/cities. Oddly enough, its suggested as a solution to lag problems in Dant etc. That, to me, seems another borked idea that needs to be squashed if it ever gains traction.

A master ranger with any combat profession is instant death against a well oiled jedi though, i dont fancy having to just run away everytime somone comes onto my radar.

Yes there is the oportunity to use stealth and i think this would be great, especially if it allowed us to negate the effects of a TEF, for example a master ranger can conceal the group from other players and npc, allowing them to go un noticed and therefor be unattackable.

As i read players can simply go into the zone as and when they want and be given a TEF, players who wish to have some risk, will be given WP's around the war zone to they are pushed into a cofrontation with a jedi for credits. All i see it is a way to reward non jedi for possibly being attacked by jedi.

As for the other planet debate i seriously hope not one square meter of endor gets handed over. That place is my hunting planet.

There definatly has to be a way to keep jedi out of normal GCW activities again non-jedi. They have added the no frs xp to jedi killing non-jedi now which should help alot. All we need now is the devs to turn up the heat on jedi, hunting them down with the full fury of the imperial fleet. Jedi should be so hard that 99% need not apply.

I have faith in the Devs that they will not allow cities except on the planets we have now...
