Thread: Looking for a Ranger on Chilastra (other Rangers can help me to)
I'm planning to become Master Ranger/Rifleman, and it's alot easier to get started if you know a person witht the same template already established on the server. That way, if you need to buy something from them, or need to know something, etc.,.. you know who to ask: your master. I wouldn't be looking for free stuff, just a person that could help me train/with questions/etc.,.. Kind of like a Jedi Knight/Master and Padawan relationship.
If anyone is willing to do so, just /tell or game mail Wrrli (that's the BE/CH/Medic) or Wrrlli (THats the Ranger/Rifleman) or post here.
And also if any Ranger on another server has any tips for a Ranger in training, they're appreciated.
If I can make enough between my BE and Ranger, then I'd rather do TKM. I picked Trandoshan because that's what I origanlly planeed to be, but not sure if I''ll be able to make a living doing only custom orders on my BE/Ranger and missions to pay for my armor/buffs/food...
And I'm glad to hear that. Can't wait to actually become a Ranger...one question though. When in populated towns, fo you get alot of tells? I have to turn my Expert BE title off sometimes because I get so many tells, most for orders I can't do (like a +13 and up tissue, tried and tried, just can't do it yet

Alright, and I have a question about TKM. How much do you spend on a weekly bases, playing, around 3 - 4 hors on average a day (sometimes more, less, alot more, alot less, etc.,..) buying armor/buffs/food, and how much do you make doing missions/selling rescources?

Well my answers will be a little different from most. My guild members supply me with buffs/food/and armor at no charge. I proved them with meat and organics the same way. For instance I collected over 100k between the latest Dantooine Herb meat and the Lok Herb meat. With that my guild Drs should never need meat for making buffs for quite some time. If no guildies are around I have no problem buying a 12k buff at the space port. My toon still makes a noticable profit by doing missions to harvest. And my alt is a fighter who can suppot both himself and my Ranger by killing a few Jantas from time to time.
And if I want something special my friends do not hesitate to help me get it the same way I help them. Frankly I am shocked when I hear of guilds where they expect members to buy everything from them. Don't get me wrong, I am free to put my harvest up on the market if I wish. But frankly there is very little that I need. You will find that most of the members of my guild are millionares. We are not a commune but a group of friends who help each other.

Future "Ranger" template would then look something like this:
TKA: Master
Pikeman or Swordsman: Master
Creature Handler: 0/0/0/4
Scout: 4/0/4/0
Marksman: 1/0/0/0
6. So essentially, my play style - the play style of a Ranger - would remain the same. Unfortunately, I would not "officially" be a Ranger - but I might have a Trandoshan toonwho can outlast any Master Ranger/Rifleman in the wilds.

I am currently a Master Ranger and heading towards Master Rifleman - I'm fairly new to the game so I have a fresh perspective of what I did wrong on my way up and what help I would have like to have had as well. On top of that, I am also a Trandoshan - so we have plenty in common
I will tell you this however - I am contemplating a different template as soon as I hit Master Rifleman (close enough now that I might as well go all the way).
Sadly, I may give up Master Ranger and pick up two Master Brawler professions instead - TKM plus Two-Handed or Polearms. Planning on this for a variety of reasons: (and I think this is worthy for the devs to consider).
1. As a Trandoshan, there are several distinct racial bonuses for Unarmed combat.
2. TKA can heal disease and poison - thus negating the need to come into town for a Doctor - As a Ranger, I like to stay out in the wilds and handle things on my own - unfortunately, there is no Ranger skill that enables me to cure disease or poison (although I confess I have yet to try the doctor buffs for disease and poison resist). This skill, plus the unarmed bonuses is very enticing to a Trandoshan.
3. The additional Melee combat skill allows me to inflict additional damagesvs. simply kinetic - as a Master Ranger/TKM I would be severely limited against creatures and NPC's with high resistences to kinetic damage. Two-Handed/Polearms would allow me to have truly effective AOE attacks as well and I would have signficant defensive bonuses from mastering two combat professions.
4. I would keep the following Scout skils: 4/0/4/0 - this allows me to still negotiate terrain and obtain a fair bonus to creature harvesting. Remeber, the Trandoshans received a +10 to creature harvesting and therefore, though still not a Master Ranger, I can harvest a good amount in a very speedy amount of time due to my Melee Combat skills. Conceptially, I would be able to harvest the same amount of resources as a Master Ranger/Rifleman and perhaps more, since I can stay out in the wilderness longer (assuming I've been poisoned or diseased.) While the High Tech Field base heals wounds faster, the additional speed is negligable.
5. Even with the skills listed above I still have 38 skill points left to do as I please - place it in medic or entertainer, or both if you like. With those skills you would only need to come into town to heal battle fatigue! Personally, I plan to put them in Creature Handler and Rifles1 - so that I can still fire back at NPC'swith my Tusken Rifle while mounted.
