really weird, yesterday everything was fine, but today, when i want to track animals, only the ones that are on my radar, and the ones i allready seen, show up in my tracking list. Lets say i'm running north direction, and i havent been in that direction before, when i use track, nothing shows up in my list in the northern direction. When i go 200m north, i see several lairs. This happened before, some days everything works fine, other days tracking is just useless.

The problem you describe is an artifact of the spawning system. You can only track something if it has spawned and things only spawn if a player has been there. You need to give the server time (10 seconds will usually do it) spawn things when you enter an area.

So tracking is a useless skill? I use it to track krayts, but what good is it, if they only show up in the list, when someone allready found the spawn?

Thats a pet peeve of mine. Tracking is not useless its a very useful skill. There is a great guide to it in the stickies. I would highly recommend reading it. You'll see there is a hole at 100m. And that nothing shows up that hasnt spawned.The best way to get it to work is to have your friends walk or go mount 100m in front of you to either side. This will force the server to spawn it.

I am a Ranger right now as a profession because of tracking. I am a ranger as a lifestyle by choice

Then whats the point in tracking? If you have to have someone ride a 100M infront of you they can see everything that just spawned on there radar. Also the hole starts at 125M, but nothing shows tell you're 100M away from it on radar.

Also the 125M hole is really annoying. You track something and then when you're close to it you retrack to get a final bearing and it doesn't show up, cause it's within the 125m range of you but won't show on the radar tell you're within 100m of it, W.T.F. Could they have done anything more halfassed as the Ranger class? They need to finish this class and put in all the code they forgot about. But that will only happen after I win the Lotto and buy SOE.

Krayts will be there. They are a static spawn. They spawn if people are there or not. If no one is there to engage them, they tend to leave until someone enters the zone. I have tracked Krayt early on, few people on server, from 400m and more.

Same same with most "major" creatures - GDKs for example.

What sucks is campers and the clowns who put up houses in the spawning zones. The houses actually prevent spawning. The more people on a server, the less creatures.

And that 100m outrider thing? Huh?? Just go thru the area and you can force spawn. I ride thru at a high rate of speed, stop, and see what I forced.

Biytors,

Ready for my simple answer for that? If you dont like the skill. Dont get the tree. Why waste the points? I use tracking almost constantly while im in game. From searching for new creatures im looking for. To keeping an eye out for player BH's that are stalking friendly Jedis i know. I even use it for NPC's when i was up in the village. Before i realized that the mission wasnt about tracking or searching. And was a case of just looking for the switch in the ground to show you were the next person to be picked up was. Tracking is primarily the only useful skill, although i have fought the usefullness of conceal before, in the ranger line. It has problem but then all professions have issues. And until the jedi profession is complete and perfect none of it will be fixed. Its not that broken or nerfed of a skill. Its far more useful then most of the abilities my Ranger/Swordsman has in game.

Continuing what JB said, this is the macro I use for tracking while riding a bike/mount:

/dismount;
/pause 07;
/areatrack;
/pause 01;
/mount;

This will popup areatrack's window, which you can readily use from your mount, you only need to be off your ride to call that window, not to actually track. Now, choose whatever you want to track and get ready for the results
