Suddenly realised that replying to the original 'trade' post would bump it, so am c&p'ing it here:
He's getting better at that, isn't he? Sort of the anti-thesis of JBMat
While I am seriously opposed to over-regulation of the forums and would hate to see a heavy hand being dropped on people for going OT or thread hijacking (cos I like the groovy, fluffyness that breeds in the Ranger forum) I reckon it's time for the Chocolate Bunny to cut and paste the "This is not a trade forum" into a sticky.

It makes more sense for the ranger forum then for the scout forum. But it does seem like a good idea. Im not for 400 stickies but this one would stop the nasty replies we've been doing

One might hope but most people don't bother with the stickies anyway. Although we could put a disclaimer in there arguing that we have the right to flame anyone who doesn't read the sticky first

I'll let JBMat handle the flaming, he does it so much more effectively than I ever could.
I will, however, reserve the right to steal any such post and redirect it to push my own
Punchbowl for President
campaign.

How about this? We post a sticky titled "The Official Trade Related Posts Thread! Hire Rangers Here!" with the first message in it encouraging others to posts their "hiring" or "Need xxx amount of meat" messages.
Then, and this is the best part, we just ignore all the posts in it.

So, I actually brought this up in the Corr forum on Friday. I am never going to ask for a trade post to be deleted. I will politely tell them that the trade forums are a better place. I am really torn because, indeed this is not a trade forum, BUT the offending poster almost always finds someone to help him when he posts here. I am still considering wheter of not to do a 'not a trade forum' sticky. BTW, I hate having too many stickies as well, hence the removal of the How to Hire a Ranger thread.
