I used to have 4/2/4/4 ranger, but eventually dropped it for commando. Now, though, I'm considering getting it back (Master pistoleer, 0/4/0/4 smuggler). I'd have to drop smuggler, and was wondering about a few things.

Do traps have more than a 5% chance to succeed in doing what their description says they should?

Does camo work any good? I like PvE against imperials a lot, and wanted to know if I had a chance of sneaking up ona stormtrooper.

Do camps even have a small purpose?

Should I get the force reflexes line for scout/ranger mods?

Is harvesting for rangers noticeably better than that for scouts?

How well does tracking work?

I'd appreciate it if someone answered any of my questions. I loved ranger while I had it, but didn't like how I couldn't do much in combat. Now that I have pistoleer, I do much better, and think I'll retake the ranger profession if it has even a few small uses.

I'm not an expert, but from what experience I've had:

1) Traps have a pretty high chance of working against low-level mobs, but the odds go way down against high-level mobs (unless you are using high-end traps)

2) Camo seems to be more useful for Rifleman than it would be for say Pistoleer.

3) Aside from getting you XP needed to get to Master Ranger, camps don't seem that useful anymore.

4) don't know.

5) Harvesting for Rangers IS better than for Scout. My friends with Scout skills used to marvel at how much more harvest I would get than they did. I think many would agree that Tracking IV is worth the SP even if just for the extra harvest.

6) Tracking works great - if there's anything around. Until I got to Tracking III though I found it nearly worthless.

I dropped all my Ranger skills except the Tracking line. I didn't like the Ranger traps. I stopped using camps once they stopped being useful. I don't need the extra terrain negotiation since I have a speeder.\

For someone who was a Ranger you seem to be sorta out of the loop.

Read the stickies.

Tho personally, I think you want more power than the class will give you.

Don't bother with the Scout/Ranger FS tree. It's a joke.
