Thread: Instead of /conceal, I might as well have...

Smeared myself with the blood of all thenative prey animals so as not to confuse the predators.
Made ahuge, bright, colored sign with directions on how to find me.
Ran around in circles screaming "Eat me, Eat me! For I am a Ranger!" at the top of my lungs.
Had my guildies wave their guns at melike traffic controllers directing all the animals to me.
Sponsored the recent BH campainad, exclaiming "Ranger, its what's for dinner."
Asked a Scout to remind me,"whatis that mask scent thing again?"
Lit myself on fire, to save anything else the trouble of actually having to kill me.
Ran more circles, screaming even louder, "Eeeeaaattt Mmmeeeee!!!!!!!!"
Left my camo at home and worn a pair of hawtpants instead

Learn that camo isnt good if your racing around on a bike or just running. Its like mask scent think about walking or going prone to give yourself better odds

Yet another confirmation that being a Ranger will get you aggro'd first. Standing in the wrong grid square will get you aggro'd.
Watched today as a "new" Ranger I am training found that she can aggro radar yellows without even shooting at them. All she had to do was shoot a like critter from another lair. She was not happy as she ran screaming into the hills. And she was maskscented too.
I swear, Ranger spells All you can eat Buffet some days.

and the best part, she is a wookie and runs slow anyhow. The critters kept up with her.

Usually of kreetles. Id love to know why conceal works better for me. Must be the dried boar wolves blood i use mixed with kreetle bones

Actually, broken camo aside, rangers don't have any innate ability to get themselves attacked by every beastie on a given planet. It just seems like we have this special power because we tend to place ourselves in harm's way more than the average schmuck. Imagine an ER doctor saying, 'egad, why do I get spattered with so much blood every day? Do retail clerks and postal workers have to put up with this?' (Well, maybe postal workers was a bad example.) But you see my point: we're not intrinsically any more or less likely to aggro critters than anyone else, we're simply victims of circumstance. Circumstances of our choosing, sure,but that's neither here nor there. I wanted to point out the fallacy in your post lest you scare away any potential rangers who might equate joining our ranks with certain molestation and death.
I was going for 'pompous and smarmy' with this post-- how'd I do?

What I was TRYING to say, was that my maskscent and camo skills work fine and I wouldn't give them up for anything! I love being pseron ina group speeding somewhere who doesnt get aggro'd by anything! I can drive circles around rancor (enraged!) without them knowing I'm there. In fact, the only thing that seems to REALLY hate my guts are those pesky kreetles. Im only a Ranger 3023 so I havent maxed out the camo skill yet. Works fine for me

I especially like the pied piper joke.
This thread was really meant as a joke, not a complaint. Most Rangers understand the success and failure of /conceal. What most of us lament over is how ineffective it is compared to mask scent. We spend a heck of lot more skill points and a bunch of resources, found only on certain animals,yet really its not much better. (I think its something like 95% for mask scent vs. 98% for conceal)
I've alsonever read anything in the description ofconceal ormask scentindicating its more effective while walking or prone.While I ve noticed it seemsto work better prone, consider Temujin23's reply. Crawling around may just mean less chances to break, notactually a positve modifier to the /conceal chance.
I guess what I'm getting here is that, /conceal doesn't work as well as it should, and sometimes humor softens the blow.

Camo is one skill I would love for the DEVs to sit and explain exactly how the numbers work. I have actually been on tatooine fully camoed and ran through tuskens without so much a stare in my direction. I have wandered through squill liars and not one even suggested making Ranger Tar Tar to his mates. But if I get near evil hermits, desert stalkers, or kreetles my camo breaks everytime. Even tried going prone.
Here is one for the books. I was camoed and wandered too close to a krayt. He came up on me and sniffed (stuck his nose in the air so I assume it was a sniffing animation) then wandered off. Dunno if he saw me and just didnt care (maybe he already had his fill of stupid players for the day) or was blind to my camo. But it was weird.
I then approached a feral spawn with the krayt behind me. Immediately my camo broke and Mr. "I eat whole stormtrooper squads as an appetizer" jumped me.
