Since rangers are more PvE based I am sure we notice this more then other professions. This isnt a rant or a whine. Just a funny story.
I was on Tatooine today culling banthas for a contract I got for wooly hide. 60CPU. Not bad. I got a random spawn of feral banthas going full blast and I had only hit the nest once so far. But I am using a harvest droid (boy they move slow) so I am taking my time between shots so I dont lose track of what I harvested and havent harvested. I got about 10 feral banthas still alive I have yet to send to the happy stomping ground in the sky.
All of a sudden I notice the lair's health dropping and all those banthas run off in one direction. STAMPEDE!!! I jump up and follow to get as many as possible but in the time I took to stand the TKM already killed em all and runs to the nest. He then proceeds to finish off the nest (I could have still got a few more banthas out of it). Then he runs off.
Digusted but not discouraged I run off to find a new spawn. I find it (this time a dune bantha random spawn) so I proceed to harvest and juice the nest. Soon as about 10 Dune bantha appear here comes old stimpy and thawps the nest once to get aggro and finishes em off before I get one killed. He then finishes the nest and I am stuck again.
Now I did talk nicely to the guy. I asked him to please avoid spawns I was doing as I need the hide. I didnt tell him why I needed it but hey why should I? His reply was a short quick "STF U I am getting xp". So I decide to be a little more nice. I send him an email with a location of a good spawn area of tuskens and such near the race track that is great for xp grinding if you dont like caves. He says to me "Thx carebear" and runs off in the direction of the waypoint I sent.
To be a little more safe I shift over 2000m to the krayt graveyard in hopes of no other "MINE! MINE!" people. I usually dont hunt there as I backed into a krayt spawn once and can now tell you what that boy had to eatjust before he ingested me. But since spawns are down I throw caution to the wind.
I find a nice bull bantha random spawn and set to work. I dont even get the nest popped once and along comes Stimpy again. This time he brought a friend. A commando apparently. Either that or he has a smoking problem and needs a huge lighter. I see now that my new found friend wont go away without some initiative.
I am standing there tracking (getting messages from Stimpy like "Looking for your brain loser?" and such) and find what I am looking for. A nice phat feral bantha spawn. And next to it a new friend I know Stimpy is just gonna love to meet. I act like I am about to work on the lair and Stimpy (with his bro in tow) moves in. I then run through the spawn and aggro Mr. Big and Nasty "I just ate the whole Emperor's School Choir in one gulp" Krayt dragon. I pull it on Stimpy and Pyro. I die happy as I get messages that I cant type here from Stimpy and Pyro as they die in a quite horrible manner.
Needless to say I saw Stimpy two more times after that and for some reason he refuses to help me hunt banthas. I think he likes the rills and gorgs around the cities more now. Ah well. Live and learn.

Nice way of teaching them a lesson but you should have avoided the self sacrifice--bleed and bike

you are way too nice.. I thought people like this where commonly refered to as 'griefers' , they just earn a one-way ticket complaint if they don't clean up their act after I ask them nicely to back off..
Your method was far funnier though ^^

Kudos, way to go.
Only could have been better if the Krayt ate their swoops.
Revenge is a dish best served cold.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeeet!
A similar thing happened to me, although the guy took off after turning just two Fierce Pickets to ash. I gave him the benefit of the doubt that he didn't see me at first, but it still annoyed the crap out of me.

Ideally this would be nice... BUT I'm willing to bet that the griefer will just tell the CSR that he's sorry and didn't mean to grief someone. CSR trying to keep the profits rolling into SOE then slap him on the wrist, say "Bad boy, don't do it again", and walk away.
I'm willing to bet that unless someone has multiple tickets (and prolly from multiple people) that he isn't gonna get banned because of this style of griefing... especially if he sucks up to CSRs. And like all RL griefers, I'm sure he'd suck up to authority to avoid getting into too much trouble.
This method works quickly, effectively, and without having to rely on the less than good Customer Service from SOE. And yeah, its FAR more entertaining (especially if you get away alive). The griefer has prolly learned his lesson (at least relating to one player and prehaps the entire Ranger profession. Maybe even in general as he's never sure who's hiding Ranger titles) and won't be doing anything like that again.
/salute the method. Same method I use for people who beg for money on Tantoonie. I give them a waypoint to 'The Money Hole'... AKA the squill cave. Although that's gotten boring, might have to give them the Graveyard one OR the Tusken Bunker. And yes, I laugh when I see said begger come around me again with a ton of wounds...

Another perfect example of the Ranger Mentality. Sometimes the game system leaves us at a dissadvantage... but in true Ranger fasion a solution is found and implemented to make things work out for the better.
Great story, gonna have to keep that in mind next time I am stuck with one of those folks.

Sorry, I'm just a mean spirited vindictive sort. Any crap like that, I'm hitting /report. Especially if there's a chat dialogue that shows he's aware that he's griefing.
Then I'd accidentally drag that Bad Boy down on him. lol.
Yah, cake and eat it, that's me.

Nice job... I myself did something similar. I'm not one to do evil things but when someone leaves their toon AFK and one of my creatures runs into that persons "auto targeting" range getting killed by the grinder...it gets you a little mad since you can't harvest it. Well... I took a page out of someone elses book (can't remember who, but it was posted)...What did I do you ask? Two words Cammo-Kit. Worked like a charm hehe.
