Thread: Trapping exp for noncombat classes?

Hey,

I was wondering if anyone had some tips for a crafter going ranger. Anything worth decent trapping will kill me or incap me if I try and trap it. Is there any way around this besides teaming up with someone?

Thanks.

Buffs and Armor.

Get a good set of armor, some buffs and make a whole lot of traps. Then let the mobs chew on you like crazy while you toss trap after trap.

Did my entire ranger trapping line in just a few hours thanks to this.

Sounds good! I am still on scout trapping, so luckily nothing I am trapping is too deadly yet.

Thanks for the quick response

If you've got the extra cash, a good LE droid built to tank with self-repair modules installed could help. The various baz nitches on dath aren't tooterrible to beholdin combat, and they give good trapping xp. A melee fighting droid and some repair kits will get you pretty far.

I found that using a Ikopi Stag usually found outside Theed does wonders for xp. They tend to be slow on the advance and can be trained onto other creatures pretty easily. I have had them lay down while I was throwing traps once.. lol.

This may not work for everyone either, but I leveled the 3rd trapping box for Ranger this morning in about an hour or two this morning. Found an Imp base on Dantooine (Ahazi) with a ton of stormies around, and found a few wild spawns in the area (savage quenkers, a few random grassland voritors, and a couple of nests of pikets). I just ran aound, milked all the pikets, pulled either a voritor or the group of quenkers over to the imperial base, and all the stormies just ripped everything to pieces for me. For the nests I'd just thump the nest a couple times to get everything to aggro on me, then burstrun over to the imps, spam peace all the while, and let the imps and ATSTs engage everything. Once they had gotten into it with everything melee and pretty much drawn everything off me, I would put a bleed and some damage on each creatrue (mindsho2 + mindshot1 + headshot) so that I could harvest after they died, then I just happily stood there and lobbed traps as quickly as I could. It was amazingly fun,and inonly an hour or so (maybe a bit more)I completed Advanced Trapping 3. The only bad part was I was having toturn to stims just to keep my action up from throwing all the traps! (Of COURSE I was doing this unbuffed andlargely unarmored - I'm a RANGER after all )Racked up scout and trapping XP very quickly, got a ton of hides and some pretty decent milk that my BE is loving me for, and had a TON of fun.

Then off to Coronet to train trapping 3, frontiering 3, and field bioscience 4 (and now proudly wearing the Tracker tag). I hope that the spawns are that good later tonight, I'll probably try and get most or all of Trapping 4. Then just a matter of running up the Wayfaring tree, and I'm to Master Ranger. I'm betting I complete all 4 boxes of Wayfaring before I actually get the Frontiering done...

Zapper , I just noticed that you're on Ahazi too... if you're interested, I'd be happy to help you out in game if we happen to get on around the same time. Always availble and willing to help a fellow scout / ranger. Send me an email or a tell in game (Dekiion) and I'll do what I can to help. I've got a reasonably decent little R3 tank and I'm working my way to Master Rifle, I'd be happy to help you rack up trapping or anything else. Want to come hunt on Dantooine? Or we could make a trip out to Yavin (lots of quick Scout XP with maskscent there), or any other place you'd like.

This is by far the easiest tree in the entire game. Yes, even easier than the crafting in artisan.

Heres my guide from novice scout to Advanced trapping 4

1. First and foremost: WIre Meshs are your best friend. Can be thrown over and over on the same target. Probalyl something they'll never fix. Use it. Love it.

2. Find a Capper Spineflap outside any Naboo city and throw meshes at the little bugger. Train. Repeat until you have trapping 3. Estimated Time: 20 minutes

3. Locate Fanned Rawl or Greater Shaupaut. Same process as step 2 until you qualify for Trapping 4 Estimated Time: 5-8 minutes

4. Once mastered scout and obtained novice Ranger this is where it gets easy. Same traps. Dantooine. Find a Huurton Matriach and go nuts. Estimated Time for Adv Trapping 1: 10 minutes at most

5.Now that you have Adv Trapping 1 feel free to head to Endor and find yourself a Merek Death Head. 937 trapping experience per trap thrown. Finish the rest of the tree in 45 minutes

Notes: Easiest and most useless tree. Fill up a toolbar with 24 sets of wire meshes and just go to town. Have fun... I've mastered ranger twice and have followed this easy path both times. Cant go wrong.

Nicely done! I just finally got trained up today, I'm a 1444 Ranger. Figured that Scout XP is easy to get, so I slogged thru the hours of camping to finish up Frontiering first, and then found a helpful Master Rangerto train me up on Advanced Trapping 4, Frontiering 4, and Wayfaring 1 over in the Warren. Least I could do is give 'im that extra letter I snagged on the way down, so I saved a boatload of cash for training and he got the Compassion badge (At least I hope ya did dude!)

I'll definitely add ya to my friends list, there's still so few of us around it seems (tho this makes 2 Master Rangers I've run into on Dant in the last few days now, and I'm getting AWFULLY close myself finally). See you in game, and if you ever want to team up to finish up XP, need somone to hang out in a camp, want to go hunting, etc - lemme know. I've gotta get back over to Tat 'cause I have to test out the camo kits with my guild BE, and I keep meaning to try my hand at actually tracking the dang Hero quests since it's about the only content I've yet to do that's not going to get me instantly killed (like the DWB or vette probably would, since I'm pretty much a low/no armor and no buffs kinda guy).

Hey there fellow Ahazi ranger!

I actually conned my bf into taking me to the squill caves (his char is TKM/Fencer). In a few hours we had me 0/0/4/4 and then yesterday we went out and got me all of wayfaring (and some nice dant carni meat to make chef additives with). Now for Frontiering (as SWG is open in the background and I am sitting in a camp with my durni)... *sigh* I have gotten a pretty good camping routine down though... Call/store pet 7 times, call again, craft next camp, have pet do tricks until action is gone, heal. Disband and get around 1100/1200 exp (I am currently using a field base camp). The whole process only takes about 4 or 5 minutes. I am hoping to be master ranger in another day or so.

I'll add you to my friends list, Aragorn. Btw, my name in game is Jadis
