Hello Rangers,
I'm thinking of starting up the ranger tree and had one question about tracking. What is the distance you can track an animal once you master?
Thank you for you time.

500m
Same as if you just choose the tracking tree...
Be aware however, /areatrack isnt a one shot win to finding creatures. You get a rough distance and direction, not a waypoint and you can ONLY track what has spawned.

Thanks for your answer. I've been Master Doc/Rifle for so long now but thinking of changing things up for a new experience. I love hunting now with just Novice Scout and have been Master Scout at one time in my SWG Life and liked it and I think Ranger would be a great way to start anew and bring me some new fun to the game.
Thanks again

Ranger is great ! I wouldnt change from it for anything
Dont get me wrong about /areatrack.. its a damn fine skill, just that some people expect a direct waypoint to a target. I've found all sorts of things i wouldnt have done without ranger - lots of gorax, krayts, got myself a near full set of BH armour from random Black Sun spawns which have shown up on track. /areatrack is pretty usefull if you hunt with a jedi friend... u can tell them when someone (could be a BH) is within 500m

Yikes.. been seeing the template and tracking questions come up almost daily recently.
BTW, there's no difference in tracking at 0040 and Master Ranger.

I was tracking yesterday and had a MOB show up with a distance of 504m. I know this is only a tad over the 500 mark, but it's over nonetheless. It could just be that tracking gives you a more "approximate" answer than I thought.
Anyone else experience this or have a rationale for it?

Was the creature a Krayt or Kimo? Sometimes it does that for larger creaturs, or where there are severe changes in elevation.

I can't remember what the creature was, although I do know that it was a smaller creature on Lok. I was looking for Kimos and this was not what I wanted. Could have been the elevation though, I was near Mt. Chailot (sp?).
