Thread: Area track, a joke...
To day i made a test:
I spotted a rancor and took my bike, from a distance of 200m i could not track the rancor, and thats correct.
But i could not track the rancor until i was 120m away from it. To me that sounds like im still at the novice level, but im not.
Has anyone else had the same experiance?
I found a group of, 5 or 6, fambaa's outside of Braxis sunday night.
They were only 300m away, but when I got there ~30 seconds later they were all gone. No one else was in the area. They just up and disappeared.
I've had the usual, scan, move 50m and scan again to see something pop that wasn't there before, but this was the first time I've ever had anything disappear.
I had a Bull Rancor spawn right on top of me last night. Sorry, but I didn't stick around long enough to try to area track him ![]()
You're right. The skill is broken and its a joke most of the time.
In practical use... if you track something and it says "500m S".. don't get discouraged if another track doesn't show the animal. Just run 500m S and look for your critter and track there.
Here's a tip... using the onscreen waypoint monitor... when you track something you want to hunt... drop a waypoint at your current spot and reverse naviate AWAY from it the exact distance and opposite direction you wish to travel.
About the only thing that tracks accurately are players. As long as they are not in houses that is.

Rangers apparently are blind as a bat. I always think of that Hans Moleman guy on the Simpsons when I think of a ranger using area track. This little weasely guy with glasses that are a foot thick.
"We're going to hunt rancors Hans"
"Let me look for them with Area Track"
"Hans, they're right in front of you"
"huh? where, I don't see them. My area track shows nothing"
"Hans, they're right there, I can see them from here, they are coming this way"
"I have ranger skills, I don't see them"
"Hans, take out your gun and shoot them... for god sakes, stop screwing around!"
"Who? What? Where?"
