I've read a lot on here about how bad area track is with creatures and how there are holes, and things just dissapear etc.

I was curious however to how well Area Track works for npcs and pc's. Is it any better, other than the skill increase of getting to those ability? Are the holes gone? Does the distance tracked reflect your skill correctly?

Thanks-

My observations are thus: -

NPC's - when they spawn they tend to remain for quite a while and it works well. But after the initial joy of gaining the skill I cant say that I track NPC's so things "may" have changed.

PC's - if these guys are moving about it can be a task, it does work, but it can be work. However..... once you getreasonabley close (not tested the exact distance) I find that simply typing /follow playername is far easier than /area track to be honest. Indeed combining the /who command, a speedbike and /follow is a very effective poor mans /area track.

...and there it is folks, another reason why the Ranger, love him though I do, is a bit weak.

I love it and I always have, its invaluable to me.
I used it with great sucsess as MCH/MR, searching for baby's and resources. I use it now for BH marks and finding Npc's all the time...

All I wish is that it had some real range...

It's main use is looking for Trainers in town usually.. As I've noticed. Other than that, I don't use it much.
