Thread: Ranger , what some info/advice
Personally my friend I would attack this problem from another direction, what do you actually want to do..?
When you know that you will have a better idea of which profession you may prefer.
However, and I really dont mean to be aloof here, honest I dont. But, if you need to ask you may well find that Ranger isnt for you, if you are already a Master Scout then Ranger isnt going to offer you a great deal more, not really. Ranger, for me and many others on this board it would seem, is more of a style, a calling, a, err, I dunno, I'm just a Ranger cos I have to be a Ranger...... I know I'm not alone.
If you dont have to be a Ranger you may find that you wont enjoy it.
Now, having just read all that back to myselfI sound like a pompous snob, but I'm not really.
I'm a Ranger.....!
I am with Marcus, being a Ranger is more of a lifestyle choice.
It isn't about being cool particularely, although I do love whipping out a field base kit camp.
Do you like, tracking and hunting animals, the great outdoors, campfires under the stars, exploring?
Do you dislike, camping a spawn, killing the same mobs over and over again for exp?
If you can answer yes or mostly yes to the above then you will probably get pleasure from investing scarce skill points into being a Ranger.
if you like being able to run up to the hardest creatures in the galaxy, and /slap or /hug them without them aggroing on you, then ranger is for you.
If you like going solo into places not many have tread, then ranger is for you.
If you like seeing sunsets on Endor from the top of a Ewok tree house, then Ranger is for you.
If you like being one of a few, a brotherhood, then ranger is for you.
"I'm a Ranger.....!"
Wait... Those two items are not synonymous? ![]()
Seriously though... Ranger is a rather heavy skill point expenditure for a light weight return on investment.
As you can see from the other responses, Ranger is as much a mind set as a game profession.
Read the forums, it gives a good impression of what the community is about, and why most of us remain.
After that, it is your decision. ![]()

We need more new blood... Everyone get the peer pressure going! You want to smoke... err.. be a Ranger, it won't kill you. Right... ![]()
you wont deal massive damage out, but you will be a great help. Every day, I get tells asking me to find creatures, sell meat/bone/hide to customers. When I am in the mood, I go hunting for specific resources, when I want to be left alone, I politely decline the offer.
I make great money with my hunting partner in collecting resources and I have a lot of fun doing it. Other times, I just let my speeder stay in its place and go running across creation finding new and cool things to see experience or kill. Besides, Ive been getting fat on my speeder, a little hike always does me good.
The camps are cool and hopefully they will be even better, the harvesting bonus is mysterious and strange but I enjoy that as well.
When I got bored I dropped pistoleer and mastered TKA, when I get bored with that, It will be swordsman/ fencer or something else. I have fun being a ranger and thats whats important to me. Yeah, its a state of mind and the community that keeps me here.
hope this helps
