Thread: Worst best shift?

We all dread it. The Worst Best Shifts. Things like 998 OQ, 925 PE, 899 DR Avian Meat... From Dwarf Nunas. 950 OQ, 970 SR Scaley Hide... From kreetles. They're the shifts that make us ache because of what could've been, and they make us hide from any Doctor who knows we're a Ranger so they don't ask us to hunt the dwarf nunas. It's outstanding stuff, but the tiny quantities and/or rarity make it such a HEADACHE!
What's your worst best shift?
For me, it's Beni, a Wooly Hide from last summer. It was the best shift of Wooly in a long time on Eclipse, and people were asking me for it all over--but it was from Lok. Lokian wooly drops from one creature that is uber rare, drops only low to low-medium amounts, and cannot be found on mission terminals. In all my time on Lok, outside of that week, I've seen them maybe once.
That was hell, because I actually went hunting for it. GRAR.
My buyer backed out, too. I still have it.

I was recently asked to get hold of some really good Dathomirian Scaley Hide. Unfortunately I did not realise only shear mites dropped it (the buyer seemed to think spiders did too but alas no they dont). I managed to scrape together 1k of it then told the 'smith to give me a shout if a good yavin or dant spawn appeared! In fact I've still got it in my pack, hmm might make some camps with it or something...

The current Rori Avian Meat. It drops from rasps and vir vurs and you only get 5-15 from each even with veghash. Worse, i've only ever seen 2 each of this species naturally spawn. Vir Vurs aren't on mission terminals, and rasps only show up in the 800-900 credit range, something my master pistoleer/master ranger couldn't pull. I tried all the advice like equipping a low level gun, grouping with pets, bah... nothing worked. I was always either too low or too high. Finally I got my no-combat alt involved and, despite the annoying lag, was able to group with her, AND her lvl10 pet, AND unequip my gun completely and was able to get the missions. That was the easy part. So now I'm hunting these mosquito-sized birds that won't aggro so i have to chase them, they drop and I can't even see them. The fact that Rori is ALWAYS dark and I have to have my light on 24/7 doesn't help. (Wish I'd stayed on Dant)

Had a customer who wanted 10k of Lokian wooly. I knew it came from langlatches, and had scene them all over the place when hunting other things. Naturally, very few to be found when I needed them. Most I got from any (with veghash and +114 harvesting droid) was 55. After a week, I had 7700 units. Fortunately, the customer agreed to buy that.

actually some pretty sweet avian just spawned on gorath. you can only guess where. I managed to harvest about 500 units before i lost my will to live.

i'm with you on the Rori avian shift. I hunted for a few hours and decided it was not worththe back and forth aggrivation of mission terminals.

that rori was easy to get I gathered 5k of this before I lost my mind..
I am TKM I grouped with my kaadu and equiped a stone knife pulled the missions...went out shot the nest so they aggro on me switch to TKM, spin kick then wait for more to spawn...equip rifle shoot nest switch to vibronucks..you get the idea...
If you are a marksman like a rifleman equip a pistol or carbine but not a knife or sword...you see the trend?
if your a master marksmen or brawler you won't be able to pull missions
but yea the rori was a pain but easy money

Corellian avian with bugged spat missions were pretty bad. Everyone was jammed into the northwestcorner fighting over gulginaws. Rori avian - I was only just recently able to go back to Rori to hunt. Never again. I never have (unless I've blocked it) hunted tat avian and never will.

Ugggh. I think I lost half of my Brain cells hunting Rori Avian. The current Yavian is a releif!
