Now before you all say anything, I know this is a really hard question to answer across servers and everybody's economy is different, but I'm just curious. Foodstuffs are obviously not cheap and certainly to get decent scout/ranger materials like long lasting veghash or jawa beer can be fairly expensive...
but when do you draw the line?
At what price do you think you are being done over?
Do you know a good chef, who is reasonable? What do they charge?
Tell me your stories! I'm curious

Tbh I am completely ignorant to what I should be paying for such things. I generally just buy a crate or twowhen I need it and dont even pay attention tothe prices.
A crate seems to last me so long I completely forget how much I paid last time when the time comes to get more.

I will not pay much more than 50k a crate for veghash, regardless of the %. But then again I am a cheap bahstahd. A chef had some decent stuff up for 100k+ and I laffed. It wasn't that good and didn't have that many uses. I found cheaper. Not like the stuff makes me harvest 200% more.
I must confess I don't use Jawa beer, so I haven't a clue.
The economies on servers vary greatly tho, so 50k on Scylla could be 25k on yours, who knows?

I think I paid about 80k for my last crate of veghash... possibly less than that - 60k odd for jawa beer. Do people think that sounds reasonable?
I know it's server dependent but I'd still love to hear what the going rate is where you are.

I sell crates of hash for 50-60k and jawa beer about 60-75k i sell singels of jawa ale cheaper belive it or not cause people tend not to clean out your stock of singles like they would if i had crates of jawa ale for 45k.. I do sell um for around that but only person to person.. All my stuff for that matter is cheaper when you deal directly with me. If i had stuff prices at what i would like to sell for for a "fair" price i would get cleaned out daily.

Well I know the Lowca Chefs are really high priced on pretty much everything.I probably charge less then half the price most of them sell for and its pretty close to the same quality. I don't do it because I'm trying to undercut people or steal business away, I just don't think paying 175-200k for a crate of Veghash or 250k a crate for bivoli is reasonable. I sell my +32 veg for 50k(or 60k icant remember off the top of my head)because I feel thats a reasonable price.

I am based on Chimaera ad here the rangers charge chefs an "arm and a leg " for meats etc. So considereing the chef has to pass on these expenses to the genaral populous, its hardly suprising the cost of the food and drink we all consume is spiralling up
We charge for meat they charge for food, we charge more etc etc
I wish people cold all take a step back from the "money first " orientation and try an experiement. "hello mr chef i got a few k of nice meat , can i TRADE it for a few veghash/brandy pls.
Works for this ranger and both parties r happy. I have a regular "vhef" who takes my stuff, and I have a regular free source of foos/drinks
Anything else i do on my ranger is money in my pocket, but when it comes to chefs, its s symbiotic relationship.
Not for everyones "taste" the abouve theory, but it works for me, so I recommend trying it for your selves..
