Dunno if it was just me having exceptionally bad luck tonight, but with the spawn rates and wild spawns in particular apparently ratched WAAAAY up, I was getting aggro from various NPCs on Lok tonight about every 20m or so it seemed! Canyon Corsairs, Nyms, mercenaries, pirates, etc. Between that and the massive increase I saw just tonight with wild critters all over, I'm thinking that the Ranger ability to camo themselves AND OTHERS to protect somewhat from both creatures AND NPCs is about to take a fairly significant step towards being FAR more useful and sought after. My guildies already love me for being able to do it for the folks that don't have any scout when they go to high end planets (Dath, Endor, Yavin). I'm wondering how long it'll be before we all start seeing tells asking for us to camo (or probably more likley demanding that we camo)?
Either way, this Ranger is exceptionally happy about camo, maskscent, and the decent shift of herbivore meat on Ahazi these days - nothing quite as fun as heading out to slaughter the gurks and snorbals littering the countryside, and man, after the spawn improvements -- they ARE "littering" the countryside!!!

Camo isn't useful against NPC's, unless they have changed it, and I'm so far out of the loop.

WhatI noticed about camo vs NPC's (anjd nothing has changed in 6 months from what I've seen)is that if they are faction (when you kill them you get the faction status message)then it doesnt work.
But if they arent faction (example Black Sun on Yavin) then it does work.
Another thingI noticed (bug) is that if you are camoed and then you take a shuttle/starport trip, when you get off you aren't camoed right, but the computer still thinks you are with regards to your mask scent status. If you you mask scent and then try to unmask scent, it will say you can't do that while camoed.
As far as camo being usefull "again" I have always had a use for camo, and try to get a brick of each camo resource for every planet so i never have to worry about it. It lasts alot longer than mask scent (less hassle while hunting) and sometimes works against NPC's.

That macro doesn't always work though. I wrote one exactly like it and found that it it turns off in the middle of combat, it won't turn back on. Then, when you finish combat, the timing on it may be off and you have to start it over.
It's easier to just pay attention to the time and hit the maskscent button two times really quick each time before you start shooting or kicking.

No hassle if you arent fighing anything or using a vehicle. otherwise....
And your macro ..When yourmaskscent breaks (due to a red) during those 16 seconds then your macro will permanently keep you unmaskscented.
Camo will stick alot longer (and supposedly a little better) then maskscent, and it works against some NPC's as well. (so it's far more usefull) Like todayI was prone killing a Black Sun Assasin 50m away while a Black Sun Guard was 5m away just picking his nose.

My guess is it's because stormies are dumb. You know that whole second generation clone thing, like on Multiplicity.

Camo has been good against NPC's since I became Master Ranger.... That was sometimes in May-June last year ![]()

Camo is much more useful than Maskscent and I always use it if I am doing anything dedicated on a planet.
However, I have been noticing a few oddities when it comes to my camo, some things eeing through and some things not. I have not yet been able to pin this down to anything specific. I can run past agro Tuskans and Alkharas fine (both factioned, the former I have -5000 the latter I have +5000). However, some other mobs including Jabbas (-5000 faction), Gunrunners (no faction) andDesert Demons (-5000 faction) will shoot at me without breaking the camo. As a Master Ranger/Master Rifleman being attacked by these low-end mobs is not that big a deal, but it is kind of irritating and I cannot pin it down to any one cause, if it was faction related then why can I hug Tuskan unless they actually break the camo and detect me?
