I read several of the revamp ideas but I think a few simple changes would make being a ranger much more useful.
Concealment.
I dont understand why rangers should not have any kind of role in the GCW or PVP.
I think it would be great if a cammo'd ranger could move around without other players seeing them as long as they dont attack (as a scout) and as long as they stay outside of 20m. I dont think that this should add defensive modifiers in combat as proposed in the tactical ranger proposal.
This would allow them to be a true scout and it could lend itself to the GCW. If they got too close (say withing 20m) and if they dont attack then they would be concealed from other players. This would lend itself to the scouting aspect in PVP.
Decoys
Ever have a time when you were on say a Baz Nitch mission but your mission was surrounded by allot of other aggros you did not want to fight? Perhaps if we could set decoy's to go off it would lure certain creatures to the decoy. This could be used as a way to "pull" creature types you want to a particular location.
High Tech Field Base "Safehouses"
This would be so cool if implemented and would be highly useful after the combat upgrade.
I think that high tech field bases should be used as safehouses in combat. People grouped with the ranger can run into it for safehaven. Anyone inside the perimiter cannot be attacked. Doctors could be in their healing and rebuffing, medics could also drag incapped players into the HTFB.
This would serve the same purpose for hunting trips. Apparently in the combat upgrade people will not be able to spam specials all day and I think that a HTFB should be the center of operations for any PVE or PVP group.
I also think that the ranger should be able to move or do anything within 200m of the HTFB and it should remain active. Dancers and musicians should be able to heal battle fatigue in them.
I think if these 3 fairly simple changes were added then it would go a long way in making the ranger a much more useful/desired profession.

Concealment. No invisible people in SWG, so saith the Devs. Leads to 3d party program shenanigans.
Decoys. Not a bad idea at all.
HTFB = safehouse. Ehhh... the freaking fence don't even work right. PvP safehouse would mean the base would have to have defenses...blah blah blah - see the stickies, it's in there. The other stuff, Calc and Owen are trying top get us some stuff, have faith and patience.

I can see it now hand crafted decoys of Rancs on the trade forums
Nice idea.
How about this. For any of you who had to endure the movie " Jurasic park III " may remember the part when the boy used T-rex urine to scare the "smaller" critters. So, How about Rangers being able to Harvest the sent glands and such. Even better to be able to craft items that use them. I could see a market for "vort repelent" or something like that.

It is so funny that they can let people have 90% comp, buffs, and solo kryats but using a camp as a safehaven to heal is just so off limits. I would have been better off not even posting here sorry to piss so many people off by suggesting what I would like to see done. It is a horrible thing to have an opinion and want improvements in your prof.

Hey, you may have made an enemy elsewhere. Sometimes people will follow you around and 1-star every post you make. I'm one of the people who's most in favor of a full-out revamp, so I don't agree a few quick-fixes could save the profession, but I sure wouldn't one-star you. There are some things which can be fixed and that would help solve a lot of problems. But there are bigger issues that can't.
and I honestly can't believe you're being one-starred by one of the regulars here. I'll 5star all your posts just to try and restore balance, but remember that complaining about a one-star doesn't generally endear yourself to the people who didn't give you a rating. One person 1-starred you, not our entire forum.

It wasnt me.
I like some of the ideas I'vebeen reading here in this forum.
In truth I onlyrank posts that I agree with 100% or it's just very very funny. I dont expect everyone to agree with me all the time and as much as I like to see a good star next to my post its notthat important to me.
Keep at it m8, tossing ideas back and forth is the only way to make good changes. If all goes well the best of what we all toss in may even be put in game.

Just a word of advice, us rangers won't 1 star each other often or at all for that matter. Use your skills as a ranger to track down the 1 star wearer of the garment which I shall not mention. But I can speak for most everyone in here. We'll offer our opinions to your ideas, and maybe come up with suggestions to make them more in tune to what we've already suggested, but we'll never 1 star someone unless they try to hire one of us in these forums and don't read the stickies above first.
cheers.
