Fellow Rangers, I feel a disturbance in the Force. It began, as far as I can see, when rangers began to be corrupted by the amassing of credits, allowing pride to creep into their conversations and, yes, arrogance to fester in their relations with other professions.
The Ranger is at one with their environment, taking from it only what is necessary and wasting nothing. The scorched earth policy of the professional elite fighter leaves only corpses. When Rangers kill they always harvest.
Not for us the foul ways of the combat slaves, killing each other merely to prove that, well, what? That they can die more and faster than anyone else but still come out fighting? Not for us the mindless crafting over and over and over again of the same item merely to rise in the ranks of artisan, doctor or engineer.
The sentrylike droids who mindlessly kill the citizens of the galaxy and raid their corpses for loot, the robotic girations of dancers who are there in body only. These are symptoms of a great malaise. One which I fear we could be affected badly by if we lose our close knit sense of community.
When a novice Ranger arrives in our gathering place here they have already made a journey through the Scout profession, they need gentle instruction, encouragement and advice. I believe that is what they recieve, for the most part. As a result they grow in the ways of Rangerdom to become worthy representatives of our class out their in the Galaxy.
When a traveller finds themselves among us, we should, out of courtesy and professional pride, consider what they are asking then direct them on their way with only kind words and positive advice. Remember, aggression is the easier choice, and in aggression and fear the Dark Side lies.
The Ranger needs not the adulation of weaker minds, nor does the Ranger need material things beyond those which there is an immediate use for. All belongings, all property in the world is a distraction from the true path of Rangerdom.
The Ranger is at one with the environment, it is our provider and our partner. Meditate on this.
The Ranger represents all that is best in their class. It is a Lifestyle, not a mere profession. Meditate on this.
The Ranger is a compass and pathfinder for the lost. By remaining true to the ways of Rangerdom we can and do set an example for others to follow. Meditate on this.
Remember, whether you are facing a charging graul marauder or are surrounded by squill, it is the Rangers ability to think before acting that allows them to survive to hunt another day. Rash words and actions bring swift justice on all.
I shall now return to my contemplations on the Corellian Poppy. A though provoking plant indeed.

We look inside to our innate abilities to make the best use of the tools that are available to us in the world. Whether that is something natural, like landscape, or crafted, like a weapon. If a jedi were to become a Ranger, or vice versa, they would be a powerful expression of the Force indeed.
How very Zen of you. Say, what did the Zen Master say to the hot dog vendor? One...with everything.
