Thread: Suggestion: Harvesting droid revamp
- As pointed out my friend in the milking thread: If we get the ability to harvest more than one resource, then harvesting droids will have to be adjusted accordingly so that they get more than one resource (I really dont' want to have to send the droid to the corpse, only to wait for it come back and change the resource only to have to send it back again!).
- Allow harvesting droids to harvest milk too. You set their harvest interest to "Milk", tell them to chase, then tell them to harvest.
- Shellfish harvesting, just set the harvest interest to shellfish andtell them to stay in the water and tell them to harvest (you'd probably have to repeatedly issue the harvest command as you have to use the harvesting tool).
I'd suggest fishing, however that is a much more interactive activity that we should be doing ourselves. I suggested the milking and shellfish harvesting because they are pretty 'passive' activities (in which I, at least, feel like a bot). Having a droid to do this for us would free us up to go and milk or get shellfish (thus doubling harvest) or hunt other creatures.

Some good points Dave. I'm not sure if they could be progammed to milk with current pre-req's for using them though. AFAIK you don't even need scout to milk (if you are camo'd by a Ranger), but you do to use the droids. I think my biggest wish for harvest droids is an auto-harvest mode where it will just go from corpse to corpse without me having to tell/wait for it.
and besides....an R2 that milks a creature is kind of a disturbing image...don't you think?
It depends on your template and play style, but to me (Ranger/Rifleman) the point is it saves my legs, and it also increases my harvest. Mine also lets me fire traps without using up as combat turn. There are numerous posts in this forum where you can find both sides of the argument for/against the use of harvest droids.

- In general, with a high enough bonus, a droid can harvest much more than you can, even with veghash.
- In general, it's really useful to ranged combatants because they don't have to leave their firing spot and cover the long distance to the corpses.
- In general, it's useful to melee and ranged fighters beacuse it can harvest while you are still in combat.
- In general, it's useful because it have harvest while you are prohibitive state effects (like blind) on yourself.
- In specific to milking, it could do all of the above, but even more so, it could be milking one creature while you're milking another, thus increasing what you can get. Which would be a welcome thing given that it's such a limited commodity.

It would be incredibly useful if I could just send the commands and have my droid travel to the corpses in sequence.
- Harvest bonus equal to 50, droid harvests equal to you.
- Harvest bonus greater than 50, droid harvests greater than you.
- Harvest bonus less than 50, droid harvests less than you.
As for "stacking commands", what we mean is that if you kill creature A and send the droid to harvest, but you kill creature B while droid is still on way to corpse A and then issue another harvest command, droid will turn away from corpse A and go to corpse B, thus missing out corpse A.
Therefore you have to wait until corpse A has been harvested until you can issue command to harvest corpse B.
