Thread: Your Feedback Needed (creature mounts)

As a few of you know last week i got onto the subject of doing things from the back of a mount. Well the devs have upped this request up a level and are asking everyone what they want to do on the back of mounts. Seems they liked the idea of mounted areatracking and trap throwing as those are 2 of the 3 examples given.


So head over there and start suggesting things you would like to see, not just for ranger too.

Looks like it's been deleted. Well, here's what I'd like to see:



  • Areatrack while mounted

  • Throw traps while mounted

  • Heal myself while mounted

Coming back into the Ranger fold (I stopped for a while to PvP) I'd like to see these things implimented with mounts.

Add



  • Using the pet's attacks (generic, special 1 and 2). Trick after all works too.

  • Able to craft (I can steer with legs), would obviously not work on a swoop -> giving a pet (be/ch) an extra impulse for using pets instead of the vehicles

  • Being able to apply camo/maskscent

  • Being able to search a lair

It's been a while since I last tried, but AFAIK you could already do this? From a bike at least.

i think i'm gonna refrain from posting much on the main thread... done enough talking about mounts back when we discussed it here...


gonna summarize the serious suggestions from the first8 pages for you guys, cause... well... seems like a better thing to do than whining about my opinion, heh...



  • Cosmetic


    • Customizable mount-wear, barding, and armor

    • Different craftable saddles, and allow them to be added/removed

  • Mount Combat


    • Allow mounts to attack - add variety to attacks

    • Give a "charge" attack to mounts

    • Give a "trample" attack to mounts - results in knockdown

    • Give a "stomp" attack to mounts - damages lairs

    • Craftable mount armor (as per conceptual artwork released before mounts)

    • Have some combat "spook" the mount- resulting in unmounted rider

    • Alert system for when a mount enters combat

    • Remove mount slow-down in combat

    • Introduce /flee command - sends unmounted creature away from combat

    • Allow /tellpet to work while incapicitated

    • Allow mounts to improve through experience

  • Rider Combat


    • Allow riderto use specials (penalties: no AOE, reduced damage, reduced accuracy, CH only)

    • Introduce new mounted only specials

    • Allow riderto heal

    • Allow riderto use traps, grenades, CM supplies, and other consumables (ex: rocket launcher)

    • Allow rider to use Squad Leader commands

    • Allow combat in water when mounted

    • Have mounts provide a better LOS

    • Incapacitated riders remain mounted and mount continues moving

    • Introduce pet rescue - pet drags incapacitated body away from hostiles

    • Introduce tumbling from mount

    • Mountable weaponry

    • Mountable shield generators with area effect

    • Cavalry bonuses to Pikesmen, Swordsmen, and Fencers

    • Being mounted provides bonuses


      • Mount takes damage first

      • Rider defense increases

      • Rider gains damage reduction

  • Travel


    • Increase speed variations, and allow some vehicle speed mounts

    • Reduce gallop down-time

    • Increase gallop duration and speed

    • Increase swim speed

    • Have galloping mounts "jump" obstacles that might impede movement

    • Mounts have TN bonuses in their natural habitat (ex: Banthas on Tatooine)

    • Mounts should be affected by rider's TN

    • Introduce /groupgallop for Squad Leaders

  • Miscellany


    • More mountables


      • Horse-like creatures (bordok)

      • Cat-like creatures (tusk cat, gurreck)

      • Flying creatures (would have 50-100 TN)

      • Aquatic creatures

      • Large creatures (fambaa, malklok, torton)

      • Master mounts (rancor, kimogila)

      • Faction related mounts (Imp - Dewback, Reb - CuPa)

      • Quest reward mounts

    • Make mount not count against allowed pet levels or as a pet - treat like vehicle, allow mount and droid simultaneously

    • Make double-clicking /mount, rather than /exam

    • Storage


      • Add storage in saddle bags - 20 items (although 10 seems more in-line with droids)

      • Allow "friends" to access mount storage

    • Allow mounting of other player's mounts through /consent or "friend" commands

    • Allow fishing from mounts

    • Allow conversing from mounts

    • Allow trading from mounts

    • Allow /taming from mounts

    • Allow calling pets from mounts

    • Allow /sampleDNA from mounts

    • Allow /loot from mounts

    • Allow crafting from mounts

    • Allow Musicians to play from mounts

    • Allow Image Designers to adjust mount appearance

    • Introduce new tricks/animations (including normal behavior - grazing, drinking)

    • Introduce more pet-only foods (increase speed, etc)

    • Introduce pet SEAs (pet control, mounted accuracy, etc)

    • Introduce SEAs for mount barding (tracking, harvesting, TN, etc)

    • Introduce pet-only race tracks

    • Introduce wagons for transporting items or people

    • Introduce flags/banners and let them be carried from mount

    • Introduce corral/barn building where creatures can be stored outside of datapad

    • Introduce customizable pet personalities (shy, headstrong, rebellious, etc)

    • Give CHs craftables (harnesses) that allow non-CHs to train certain commands

    • Fix bazaar/vendor category for pets and mounts

    • Grant Merchants the ability to use a mount as a vendor

    • Grant CHs ability to "deed" creatures

    • Grant CHs the ability to "unmount" creatures - remove saddle

    • Make mounts able to "carry" a droid while travelling

    • Make some mounts and speeders multipassenger capable

    • Restrict some zones to "no vehicle zones"

    • Improve animations (allow for upper body movement, equivalent to ground animations)

    • Mount NPCs - Stormies on Dewbacks, Nightsisters on Rancors, Tuskens on Banthas, etc.

  • Ranger Related


    • Allow /maskscent, /camofrom mounts

    • Allow /areatrack from mounts (some suggested a penalty to the range, others an increase)

    • Allow /harvest from mounts

    • Grant certain creatures ability to give a bonus to /areatrack

    • Mount speed bonus for Rangers and CHs

    • "Increase in XP for rangers on mounts" (?)

i think that's all of them... some folks went into a lot more depth than others, even going into how bonuses should be dispersed among different professions and skill onions... they're easy to spot though if you're looking, as they are a little more verbose than most of the posts...


it was tough not giving my opinion on a lot of these... some are pretty ridiculous, others are pretty good...obviously not all of them can be done - a lot are contradictory...


i had my own ideas once... but i've forgotten them now that i've read all that... heh

And for those who want to rp tracking, they can still get off...


Actually I'd like to rp tracking while ON my mount, give me some electrobinoculars (like Lukes) for my tracking, hey this is Star Wars!

Actually if you were 100% rp'ing tracking you would realise we scan the horizon, not search for tracks. As in we spot the targets and clues around us, not search the ground (a la forage animation).

Hay speacking fo trackind and searching with elecrobinocs why isnt there an equip item like em with a trackign range bonus i mean it makes since!

That's what I'd like to see as a basic change. Number 2 is my big one though.
