What goes with Ranger? Chocolate body pai... oh, I see, you meant whats a good combat prof to go with Ranger?
Uhm, rifles are good. Tried TKM and master swords and they were fun too, in different ways.
Y'know, the best thing that goes with Ranger is you!
Oh stoppit, you know fine well what I meant.

Rifles are an obvious match for the romantic version of the Ranger (hunter of game animals). I would suggest that TKM also fills a role in the sense you are almost 100% self reliant. Since creatures do melee damage, the defonse mods make sense. The abilty to minibuff and heal wounds, as well as cure poisona dn disease)keeps you in the field longer. The major drawback is the lack of damage types, but most things a Ranger will hunt are at least somehwat vulnerable to kinetic damage.

Iwas a master ranger/tkm, but I just dropped tk a few days ago to take up rifles. Both are great-- it all depends on your preference/playstyle. TKM has speed and accuracy, plus the ability to land just about every state. It also has the incredibly useful meditate ability. However, it is limited to one damage type (kinetic), so some creatures will be off limits unless you have a friend with you.
On the other hand, rifles arevery slow and inaccurate, at least initially. Once you progress past those hurdles, the damage type options as well as the medium and heavyAP weapons make rifleman a devastating profession.
Either profession will compliment ranger very well. Pick the one that you have the most fun playing,

I agree with what Calc has said above. I'd also add though, Swordsman is another good Ranger compliment. It doens't some of the nice perks of TKM (meditate etc), but the different damage types are great. You'll notice that most creatures have low resists to blast damage (especially compared to kinetic) which make your Power Hammer a trusty weapon of choice.
Rifleman does fulfill the "romantic" element of ranger, I must admit.

I love threads like this. In any other profession forum or galaxy forum, these would be flamed for their sarcasm, but Rangers are a much different breed. You guys remind me of my Marines
A bunch of wizeazzes the lot of ya, hehe.

I really didn't want to drop Ranger or Pikeman because It was such a great combination for me, but my initial goal in this game was go become a Jedi and now that I am, I think I will make my unlock a clone of my old self after I get what I want out of Architect. I really miss the good old time where I was an invaluable asset to my group simply by trapping the creatures so they would go down faster and being able to harvest more resources than the novice scouts. But the High-Tech Field Bases and the being-able-to-walk-uphill-faster-than-any-speeder perk were the parts of ranger I miss the most.
I'll get back to it eventually. I am just exploring my options with my new alt and architecture is going to be cool for furnishing my SoroSuub!

I was a Ranger/Rifleman for a long time. I loved it. Didn't worry so much about armor because of the distance. At Master Rifleman with a powerful T21, creatures go down quick. You have conceal shot, cover, and the other mods to keep you hidden. Loved it, loved it.
I am now a Ranger/TKA. I like having Master TKA simply for the fact that alot of doctors don't pay attention when I nead to be healed. So I meditate, heal up, and I am back at it. And with the all dancers around, not like you have to pay for BF healing.
My choice? I liked Rifleman more I guess, seemed more Rangerish to me.
I'm think of going Swordsman, to try out the sword I looted with a nice poisen DOT.
Personal preferance is all it is. Try them all, just don't give up Ranger.

When I had Master Ranger, I was doing Carbineer but got bored of it so I went Master Pikeman! Looked like a good combination - A wayfarer whose only defense is his walking stick.
