Thread: Can't get ridda' this bothan ranger that easy

After being non-master ranger for a few months now (was master for over a year then dropped trapping), the lure of the harvest changes looked like enough to make it worth dropping squad leader to get back master ranger (sad, eh? ... well I dropped 2 wayfairing boxes once and had withdrawals from that).
On Dathomir, I happened across some stormtroopers harassing a guildmate, so I decided the right thing to do was go off-leave and let those stormies feel the high-velocity end of my T-21. After this diversion, we resumed our rampage across dathomir killing every Singing Mountain Clan, Rancor, Brackaset, Insect, etc when not long after we happened upon a pile of rocks with an Ancient Bull Rancor (CL98) next to it.. surely it was there because it just killed whatever was previosly near the rocks.
We started killing the first one and near the end I felt the sudden urge to go ahead and throw a trap at it, knowing there's no way it would stick but what the heck, I've seen wierder reported here recently, and low-and-behold it stuck and gave 2000xp!!! (I was less than halfway into trapping-4 at this point). Wow, this is wierd and just doesn't seem right, but okay let's tap the lair and see what pops. Wow, another Ancient Bull?!?! A lair of Ancient Bull?!? What the...? Alright, i'll throw a flurry of traps at them and see where it goes. Sure enough they went from being a minor challenge for the group to falling like nuna, with practially every trap sticking and giving 2000xp. I had the second half of trapping-4 in under 5 mintues. Something's fishy here, but okay...
My main guide through the trials of re-learning trapping had been the lovely master Ditah and she happened to be heading to Theed as I finished this, so we agreed to meet there. On the way back to the outpost I made sure to camo-up (crated dath camo kits from previous mastery) and buzzed right through a large squad of troopers unnoticed and with no incident (or so I thought).
I flew my X-wing into Theed with no signs of any threat, so I thought all was going well and met Ditah in front of the starport. I knew something was wrong here, I just didn't know what, and just as we were completing the final lessons, Vader himself dropped practically right on top of us to personally remove this Master Ranger from existence. Not having any Naboo camo kits on me, I suddenly became very light on my feet. His troopers managed to incap me twice (buffed & light armor.. i'm not that careless in theed
), but before they were able to come in for the final blow, I managed to high-tail it out of there and duck under the bridge to avoid all the troopers, including the ones on top of the bridge. Crossing the river and heading towards the waterfall's edge was enough to break agro completely.
At this point the lovely and gracious master Ditah, in true keeping with the Ranger creed of Ranger trumps Faction, offered a camo kit in groupchat to help me sneak to my ship and escape, but I declined since I already had my escape plan and it didn't include waiting for some wandering patrol to find me before she did. A quick visual scan of the backside of the spaceport showed a clear path to my X-wing as long as I got there before the patrols did, so I made haste to my waiting X-wing that my R3 kept warmed-up for me and hypered immediately back to the much friendlier planet of Dathomir to give these new ranger bonuses a workout.
sidenote: For the conspiracy theorists who would say that Ditah planned the whole thing this way including the spawning of an Ancient Bull Rancor lair with trap vulnerability right where we were hunting (2 things that CANT be naturally occurring) and that the offer of a camo kit was just to keep me there longer so I could be caught, I reject your theory for one of compromised communication channels and/or Vader's incredible senses and fear of my incredible power... *takes another hit of brandy and looks over his shoulder*
