One thing ive never got (of many many wierd american things) what do you call gas (proper gas) if you call petrol, gas?
And $10 of petrol? Thats like what? 1/10th of a tank worth?

What is this "petrol"? Sounds like some kind of candle you use to scare bugs away. /grin

Gas is usually gasoline (or petrol, which is also a misnomer . Gas can also be Natural Gas. Gas can also be stinky. 
. Gas can also be Natural Gas. Gas can also be stinky. As far as putting $10 in a car, that can be half a tank given the right car, and using the cheap gas.It costs me about $35 to fill up my gas guzzling SUV.

it also depends on where you are. In NY, prices were well over 2 bucks a gallon for a while. When I drove out to Wyoming, I found little places with gas fro 1.63 a gallon. Now, in Jackson Hole, the price is close to 2 bucks again.
