Thread: Those greedy Armorsmiths on Flurry

Make deals with 3-4 armorsmiths to keep them supplied 100%. Sell huge stacks and make sure they never run out. Reliability can be your pitch.
Organics are so darned easy to get in bulk to any scout now. That its kind of pointless to yell at the armorsmiths. Wait Naboo Bristly is the good stuff? Pre-Curb that meant 10-30 hide per kill of shauput. But post CU you just take CL80 shauput missions and BAM! 400-600 per kill.
Flood the market and the prices drop simple economics. Want to create more crafters remove the needlessly complex new armorcrafting system. Yeah theres only three armor types now. But to make that piece of recon armor you need you have to make so many subcomponents its just plain stupid.
Oh and the markets full of scouts. So if an armorsmith is looking for Wesuhmaximumoqsr hide. He will find dozens of scouts/rangers who will offer next to nothing in credits or just new sets of armor.
With tracking 4 and grouped with one person, I can get 500 units of hide off a level 80 huurton with my ranger alt. At 20 cpu, that's about 90k per mission lair. Is hide really worth THAT much?
I sell unlayered armor for 250k per suit so I don't know if that qualifies me as a greedy armorsmith. There are certainly smiths on my server who charge three times as much for the same thing. I also pay people for hide occasionally, but I'm not paying 25 cpu for hide considering the volume rangers and scout can pull in now.
I believe you're talking about the "Waheh" Dantooine Wooly (996 OQ/958 SR). Being the "best ever" spawn on Flurry for AS's, it definitely should go for well over 5-8 cpu. Corbantis hasn't ever had any that good, and the only stuff that came close spawned 2 years ago.
Being an AS with a Master Ranger alt, I dont have to buy any hide, but if I did, I would most likely buy it from my dedicated customer base, either in a hide-for-armor trade, or straight up cash. Spamming 5-8 CPU at the MO is definitely a sign of a /respec Armorsmith (or... possibly a very savvy veteran AS seeing if he can stock up a few million units of it cheaply).
As someone else mentioned... get to know the AS's you buy your armor from, and let them know you're available to contract out for them. Even being proactive and letting them know there's a good spawn before it hits swgcraft.com would be a great idea... just do a survey of Dantooine Wooly, Lokian Leathery, and Nabooian Bristley every other day or so to try and get a jump on the crowd.
If you really want to stir things up...
Make up a nice list of what goes into some of the more popular types of armor. Then post it with a list of ASs, thier price for the armor and the price they are paying for the hides. Some place nice and pubilc like your server forum.
In short embarrass them. It would take a bit of work, it might not do crud, but trying to cut them off will be next to impossible. Some one will sell to them.
Post-CU, with the high yields on most creatures via missions, to expect 50 to 100 cpu like we used to get isn't reasonable. 15 to 35 is, though. 5 to 8 cpu for quality is far too little, and 2 cpu is laughable. I think many of them are, as said, up and coming AS who either don't have the money for better, or don't realize that you can't plant ten harvs and come back in 24 hours to find a couple hundred thousand units of hide/meat/bone.
However, due to the wonderful base grouping bonus that even a Novice Scout gets without another one in the group, plenty of the XP hunters will be grabbing this stuff and selling it just as "extra cash" without caring how much they get. And then, the new bar is set.
Which is part of why I hate the base grouping bonus (even though I've benefitted from it).
One thing I'd recommend is making friends with an AS. Heck, I just give away all my armor stuff to some blonde dude name Stof. But it's 'cause he knows this REALLY cute female...and well, you know...I'm hoping he'll hook a Bothan up.
love ya, Saki.
You sly dog, you. (See what I did there?)
Did I mention she's maybe married or something?
