I've noticed that some Rangers harvest for suits of armor / medicines / food, and I have taken an interest in this after two experiences of my own. Our guild's armorsmith has ooffered 3 or 5 suits of armor in exchange for 100Kof a very good spawn of hide. Then, a few days later (yesterday, that is,) while hunting on a contract for 100K of Dathomir Leathery Hide, someone asked us if we would mind having another group member to help in the harvest (since we were all going for the same spawn - It was that good! .)

I said no, so he came along. Then, the subject came up on how I was a Master Ranger / Master Creature Handler. So, that very person told me that he had respecd out of creature handler, and after one thing led to another I endedup trading 70K of that hide for a CL 65 BE'd Rancor and 3 Female Narglatches, fully grown .

Those little guys made the harvesting go soooo much faster hehe.

Anyways, do you guys usually deal in credits or dispensable items / equipment? I'm thinking of stockpiling up some of this hide (OQ 981 isn't too bad for a lot of professions) to sit back on like a gold vein or something .

I would. Pre CU I sat on about 120k of dead sweat avian for about 2 months. Then milked the crap out of it. I ended up doing really well by trading it in smaller stacks to Guild docs, that would get me sweet stuff from their Guild ASs/WSs Etc. I got all kinds of good stuff.

The best part was sitting around MO on Dant selling buff packs out of my pocket. But that's kind of another story.

Sitting on stuff can lead to weird things. At one point I had every thing to make good buff packs. I could just trade it as a 'kit' of sorts.

I like to barter if I can. Recently Circe' and I worked out a great trade-- I gave him 30 gurk king hides and 30 woolamander bone frags that were taking up all the space in my bank box in exchange for 6 full suits of high quality custom-made marauder armor (all green/black to match everything else I own). It was a good deal for both of us. Pre-CU, another friend made me a custom set of comp for nightsister hunting-- good kin/electric/stun resists, and low encumbrance (remember encumbrance?)-- after I used some of my empty lots to place factories for her. Bartering rocks. Now I just need to make friends with a BE who willgive me stims in exchange for meat.

I would rather barter than sell for credits.

For two very sweet pistols I gave up a load of stuff that was basically just taking up space. I am about to make the rounds of some WS/AS's to see who wants to trade for the load of Krayt stuff I have. I am dropping 200k of hide off for 1 cpu and the promise of a new coat once they fix the broken mods.

I used to never pay for meds, or food, or clothes.

Hey, I always barter my stuff, especially within my guild. I currently and living off a lifetime supply of Stim-Ds from my BE for getting a bunch of meat for him. And boy does it pay off- SO much better than getting more creds in my bank account. but it would be nice to get clsoer to that KSE Firespray... adn that BARC... and that suit of RIS... ah never mind. Barter is good, but credits are good too
