Thread: Does Ranger give Combat Level?

What it says in the title. I'm concerned that my intended template (Master TKA/Master Ranger; concept is a Tattooinian desert walker) will suffer when I partake in the Galactic Civil War; fully mastered TKA is combat level 56, but most of the hard-core combat monkeys out there will be taking two elite combat professions to get another 1000 health and a combat level of 80. With the devastating effect of even a few combat levels on hit and damage chances, not getting CL from Ranger would essentially remove me from any form of PvP.

So far I only have Novice Ranger and one box of Frontier, not seen a change yet.

Ranger and scout gives you combat level and health increase.

This means if you make a Master Rifleman/Master Ranger or Master TK/Master Ranger then you will be level 80

Master Ranger and 1 master combat profession will give you CL 80 with 4 SP left over.

Unfortunately, there are no defense, accuracy or speed mods in the Ranger tree.

So, if you want to PvP, you're going to have very low defenses and not be as accurate or fast as any opponent who uses those SP to dabble or master other combat professions.

Also, with Master Ranger, you lack the variety of special attacks of those with multiple weapons professions.

You will have the full CL 80 and health bonus though, but if you really want to PvP, another template would be more effective. Hopefully rangers will receive defense/offense mods, as well as more specials in the Ranger Revamp, but there's no date set for that and it could be a ways off.

[Bah! Owen beat me to the post.. To the original poster, I don't mean to discourage you or ruin your sleep, now.. But as far as PvP goes, the lack of mods might hurt. You could always get a power crystal from the Village, and boost your health to 5000, though. That, and some useful foods, good armor and buffs, and you might fare pretty well]

Well you get traps that do specials. Not quite as good but they work on some creatures

Bio-engine... Quick question.... I am about to master ranger, and am currently master BH. Am going to drop BH for either rifleman or creature handler. What are your thoughts? CH, or rifleman? I enjoy being able to solo ancient krayts and am wondering if switching to melee will screw this up.

Alot of rangers find being Master Bounty Hunter also is a good way to hunt.

you end up having 14 points left over to play with versus 4

plus if Jeebays come along complaining about you getting more pears than them, you can threated to get a guild of Ranger/MBHs after them. That way not only will they not have their pearls, but they'll be in negative XP. Generally speaking, they'll shut up.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

Agreed.

I am still waiting for a smiley face of an evil grin, to be able to fully express my opinion on so many matters with that single image.

Rifleman is good for two things: Kneecap shot and Head shot. One, *cough,* mimics a trap of ours, and would allow you a few more chances to stick it if the first few weren't successful. Head shot gets darn well close to the weapon's maximum damage against something of your CL.

I took up Creature Handler again for two reasons: Eye candy, and an increase in damage output that I could use to a tactical advantage against a single or multiple opponents.

Pets have more bugs than rifles, though
