I am a new Ranger, CL 19. Should I continue to trap solo for maximum XP gain, or will grouping with higher levels give acceptable XP. Also, if I hunt with a friend who is not grouped with me and I strictly trap the creature and he kills the creature, will I still get the trapping XP.

Thanks for the help.

Depends on how high the group level is. You most likely won't be getting traps to stick on CL80 critters. As for the other thing, yeah, you should get trapping xp if you lob traps while your friend shoots. However, you may want to shoot the creature at least once-- may as well get trap and weapons xp at the same time so you can increase your own CL faster.

Best thing to do is just experiment. See what works best for you, see what the highest CL critter is that you can trap at your current level. As long as you do the trapping line concurrent with your other skills, and don't let your own CL overreach your trapping ability (which makes getting trap xp very difficult), you should be fine. Also, if you can find some dweezel (chef food that gives a bonus to your trapping skill), that may help.

Good luck and welcome to the profession.
