Thread: Ranger + BH and a bit of Pistoleer?

I've been a ranger/rifleman, and ranger/pistolier, and a ranger/bh post-cu. The template I found I enjoy the most is my current-- master ranger, pistolier 4/0/0/4, bh 0/4/3/0. Damage per shot isn't as high as rifleman, but I like the wider variety of specials I have now. Improved crit, improved underhand, improved stopping, warning shot, improved body. Plus, my speed with a pistol is 80 (90 with my +10 belt), which I like. Master ranger/mbh was cool, but not enough speed. I find that I do good damage with this template, and between stopping, underhand, and p-darts, I can usually kill something before it reaches me. My accuracy is low, but crispic helps there, and my defenses are around 150 for melee and ranged. Not great defenses, but no template with master ranger will have great defenses.

I think the big trick with your template is to get a really good pistol.

I have a couple/three Advanced Scatters that can do around 700+ on critical shot even on high level creatures such as the KDA. Spend a day or three trying to get some really good Krayt tissue and cut a deal with the best weaponsmith you can find.

I had been a Master Pistoleer for a long time, but went BH to free up some SP for FS stuff. I think 90% of the time I use a pistol with the other 10% using a Carbine, and that's only for the range.

If you don't have master BH be careful which scatter pistol you get. One of for novice, one is for master. So if you're only 0444 or something, you'll have to stick with the novice.

FWIW, I'd go for the FeatherWeight FWG5 with the +15 accurcy bonus.

Just curious, I've been a Rifleman forever but in the post-CU world I was thinking of changing to BH 0/4/4/4 and Pistoleer 0/0/0/3 for the stopping shot. At sometime they'll fix the p-dart without fixing the rest of the traps and having stopping shot might come in handy. Any Rangers/BH out there and where you rifleman before? Do you have better damage output with the BH specials? The highest damage special for Rifleman is sniper shot, how does critical shot compare? I was thinking of using the respec to try it but am loath to put the T-21 down....

Thanks for the advice, I've got a sweet low SAC FWG5 that would be perfect, I just have a hard time taking the plunge and changing my template. Wish I'd tried some of thesedifferent combos during the intial respect but oh well, we have double xp for the week and a combat level 80 Ranger is always welcomed into a group so maybe I'll grind some xp for these templates and if I miss the T21 too much I'll use the "Token" respect to switch back. Thanks again

I have just the combat skills from BH at the moment whilstI play shop keepers. I like it, I can use a rifle or a carb or a pistol. I would echo the point about getting the best weapon you can afford though.

I am Master Ranger/0444bh/0003 pistols for now till I need more points for the FS survival and luck skills. I like it so far, if a trap doesn't work stopping shot does. It's been kinda buggy this past weekend though in that I can't root a higher lvl well and not a lower one. I have a CL of 80 as well.
