If so, can someone please tell me what components I need to hunt for and what stats I wanna look for on those components?

You'll need 9 each of the following:

GDK scales
Woolmander Bones
Gurk King hides.

Not neccesary, but good to have is 9 Peko Peko feathers.

RIS isn't "the" Ranger armor, as it's decent, but not amazingly awesome, but it is unique, hard to come by and very good looking. My RIS is over 6300 (equates to 50% damage reduction) on both Energy and Kinetic and around 5400 elemental. I like it, but i have padded armor that's better against kinetic. Layered assault armor (composite, Chitin, etc) can actually be better against kinetic, so for creature hunting, that's your best bet. RIS is just very awesome looking.

by the way, these componants don't have stats. All the stats come from the material the armorsmith uses. I'm not really sure what resources are usedoutside the animalparts I mentioned, but the best place to find that info would be in the Armorsmith forum.

There is no THE armor for anyone anymore. that was a big point of the CU. Before the cu, THE armor was comp. Everyone wore it. Now, you have a few options to choose from based on your profession, all of which are viable options - including nothing at all. Personally, I wear marauder armor with an RIS helmet, b/c the marauder helmet looks like a fluffy hat with ear warmers.

NOTE:

For anyone who can wear Assault Armor (Ranger/Bounty Hunters, i'm looking at you) the new Elite NPC bounty missions in publish 21, they havea chance of dropping a 1 time-use, no factory run, schematic for wearable BH armor. one schematic per armor piece. Armor smiths can color this stuff too, and looks great, and uses fairly simple resources (alluminum, fiberplast, and 2 tailor-made components). stats look fairly decent on the screencap i saw.

but, these Elite Marks are CL84, so they aren't an easy takedown.

Personally I much prefer the look of the Marauder battle armour (minus the helmet).

Mine is verdant green backing with tan coloured plates.

heh. As far as I know, it doesn't stand for anything. THat's the name of the armor. RIS Armor.

Stands for reinforced insulated sheath (sounds like a prophylactic).
