Being the intrepid programmer I am I've thought of a way to bring some (good) attention to the Ranger class. Rangers, as I see it, rely HEAVILY upon other people, much like crafters, but in the fashion that people don't feel a NEED to go to them (especially now that Joe Blow can harvest nearly as much as Rangers). So instead of creating a site with some whining posts or a "Fix Us Now!" I've decided to make something that should just bring attention to the Ranger's in general.

The site I'm going to create is going to be a rather simplified auction site. Initially, the only sellers allowed will be rangers that post here in this forum, which I will create a new post for when the site is ready (it's currently in construction). I will need ARTISTS, or at least a few well smashed together non-copyrighted pictures. This site will require NO CASH to post your bids, this is NOT another IGE or playerauctions, this is a site simply to replace the godawful mess that is the galaxy trade.

Buyers will be able to sign up freely when the site opens and post their bids on all the pretty resources Rangers can gather. As I've said before, this will be a RANGER auction site, meaning that the only items I will allow to be sold are ranger made items. How am I going to do this? When you sell something, you cannot put a title on your item, it is generated by the item you select (I'm inputting all Ranger crafted items into a database along with all the types of hides/meat/bone). This helps speed up development (I'm the only one working on it as of...5 minutes ago) by making the search function MUCH easier to write (there will be no keyword searches, just item). This also saves myself a headache since I absolutely REFUSE to allow anyone to use the word "uber" on my site and simply won't have the time (I work for a living) to patrol the site myself 24x7.

So if anyone has someSIMPLE additions they might like to see, feel free to post them, but please don't get your feelings hurt if they don't get put in, I've only got so much time in the day

Also, if you have some very good art/design/photoshop/GIMP skills, feel free to contact me in PM or here.

If I put my mind to it, I'd expect the site up sometime next week (after the weekend). Wish me luck

P.S. Anyone have a good name for the site? I mean, "The Ranger Auction Site" just isn't appealing to me

I think this is a good idea. One suggestion might be to make items searchable by galaxy too. But of course and you may have somthing liek that plannes but I'm tired and a noob so i could have missed it.

I really like your ideas... it would be a great benefit to rangers and crafters.

(and you dont get editing priveleges until your handle changes color)
