Hey all,

I currently need massive amounts of scout xp for my FS grind, so i've gone ranger. I wasn't up for grinding trapping xp, so i went to 4440. I was getting about 3k-4k harvest xp a body. I thought that the only thing that mattered for harvesting was xx4x, so i dropped down to 0040 and used the sp to grind a combat proffession. I now only get 1500 xp a harvest. Is this because i have less ranger skills or a lower cl?

Thanks

Were you harvesting the same CL critters both times?

Harvesting should be based on both your harvesting mod and the CL of the critter (not yours).

my personal CL has changed, but the CL of the critter has stayed the same. ATM i only have 0040 and am getting around 400 stuff per harvest. I'll check again later to see if it was just a one-off. I hope so.

Something's up...if you are pulling in 400 units per harvest you should be getting tons of xp.

The xp you get from harvesting is also affected by the chubby factor. If a critter is "fat and healthy" you harvest more and hence get more xp. Keep an eye on this in your harvest message to see if that has changed. However, the difference in xp you describe is odd. Your best bet is to get in a group with another master ranger, eat some +32 or +33 veghash, get an insp buff and harvest level 82 critters. I'm sure you know most of that already, but it needed to be said just in case.

4444 ranger will give you the exact same harvesting xp as 0040 so don't worry about that. Also, creature harvesting tapes are currently broken.

Ok, thanks for the help.

Seems sometimes i do get 1500, other times i get 4k. I'll buy some veghash and see how i do from there.

veghash won't affect your XP, in my experience.

Harvesting XP is based on the "base" harvest, I believe. I was doing some hunting one day, and I was using veghash sporadically. I never noticed any change in XP intake whether on veghash or off. The way I believe it works is that the system calculates how much you harvest based on your harvesting level vs the creature level, and awards XP based on that, then goes on to multiply that amount by any additional modifiers (group bonus, veghash, etc.) to calculate your actual harvested amount.

Also, for what it's worth, trying to grind on scout XP is actually really foolhearty in my opinion. Yes, you may unlock your Jedi faster, but since Jedi XP can't be converted at the village, you're going to be gimping yourself. Scout XP can't go into combat boxes, so all you'll get is luck, persuasion, surveying bonuses and entertainer enhancements. When going up against a Jedi with a similar template as yours, but they have the additional meleespeed and accuracy, the aditional melee and ranged defense, or the additional ranged speed and accuracy (great for powers template), your going to get your behind handed to you.

Grinding to get Jedi is all well and good, but if all you do is go for the first boxes you unlock, you're going to lose to somebody who chose their boxes wisely. If you plan on weilding a lightsaber, the best boxes are melee speed + accuracy, the defenses line, the scout line from reflexes (+5 to TN is nice, and you can use small camps to heal wounds) and maybe the luck line to boost your luck in looting.

I'm pretty sure that dancing efficiency enhancement isnt' going to make you swing your LS faster.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.
